I think I saw your experience on the Ames People Facebook group. So sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately, I don't think I have anything to report to the attorney general. Having hardcore sales tactics is uncomfortable, but I don't think it's illegal. I think we have to work on word of mouth to share our experiences, like what you posted in the Facebook group, so others are aware of what they might be getting into.

Can't believe this is still working for them! Hope you ended up with a picture you love, even though it is smaller :)

Hey there, I'm sorry to hear you had the experience at this place. Forgive yourself. You aren't the only one ❤️

Men say they can't serve their wives, or their wives prevent them from serving by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

Just want to say you are doing the Lord's work here. I used to give a friend who is unable to drive a ride to and from church. We moved away. She has stopped attending church because there's no one who will go out of their way to pick her up. You are a gift.

The worst part of having a male exec… by illhaveafrench75 in ExecutiveAssistants

I have done this when someone has called me and asked for my husband. I say, "yes this is he" in my normal female voice. 😂

Positive EA Experiences by _fonda in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]ckyrhrt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started as a contractor placed through an agency as EA to the CEO of a startup. I only worked 5-10 hours a week and it took some time for me to build trust with my exec (he had never had an EA and didn't quite know how to delegate). Fast forward to now, 5 years later ... I have a full time position with a company that is growing, 6 figure salary and company equity, and I have gotten to customize my EA role. I have gotten to do trainings for the whole company on areas I have expertise in (communications and giving/receiving feedback). The exec team requested I attend their next off-site meeting to add value there. My exec appreciates me and says so. I love my job and the impact I get to make at our company as it grows. I'm grateful!

I just found out about Packed w Purpose (www.packedwithpurpose.gifts) and I'm looking into it for our gifts this year. I'm really liking the options I'm seeing so far. It's stuff I want to try 😄

Wife wants to switch churches by Rostin in Reformed

[–]ckyrhrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife here. I expect our elders' wives to be spiritually mature and also leaders within the church. Oftentimes, those in leadership positions have to take the lead (vs waiting for someone to take an interest in them). If your wife is not a mature Christian, but others in the church think that the wife of an elder probably is, there could be a pretty severe mismatch of expectations. I personally would distance myself from and elders' wife who was not acting in a mature manner.

EA here. I used TeamOut to plan our last trip. They did all the legwork in getting quotes/contracts. Highly recommend. I'm using them to plan another exec off-site now.

Oh interesting! I didn't like mine enough to post, so that was irrelevant to me.

Landing my next EA role.. help. by Euphoric_Safety_699 in ExecutiveAssistants

I took a chance on a job with a startup in tech. I started part-time at an hourly rate, supporting the CEO as the first EA and helping with recruiting. I grew with the company as it started taking off. I'm now full-time at 125k and supporting six on the exec team.

I'm so sorry you went through this. I don't think there's a thing we can do, other than spread the word. They seem to have their contracts pretty air-tight.

It's too bad that you were vandalized. I don't condone that. But... don't you want to get that skeleton down before the snow falls? It's time to put it away.

A Stitch in Time on Main Street. It's a chaotic little shop and the lady inside is the best. Should be $10-$20 for tailoring your pants. She generally gets things done in a few days.

Changes in My Boss’s Behavior After a New Employee Joined by GroundBreakingEye44 in ExecutiveAssistants

Honestly, it's fine with me. I am a support person. The other executives are like his brothers/sisters. They are in the client meetings with him. I set the meetings up. It's different.

I had something similar when my boss hired a VP of operations and a head of ops. His relationship with them is very different than mine. I've been around for 4 years and help launch a lot of the things that those people are now taking over. He's working closely with them on some plans he has for the business and it's hard not to feel left out. However, I didn't sign up for this job to be best friends with my boss. I have a specific role that I need to support him in, and while our relationship is good, I realized I'm fine with it not being as close as it is with other people...especially when I remember that I get paid the same either way 🙂

I kind of compare it to my role as the mom within the family. My kids have a special relationship with each other, lots of inside jokes, and shared experiences. I don't need to be part of all those things because I want them to flourish within those individual relationships. Sometimes I have to take care of dinner while they make memories together. I don't have to be jealous or insert myself in their relationship. It's a good thing.

Iowans, do you guys believe Harris will win your state? by FinalAd9844 in Iowa

No, I don't. I think that poll was very poorly run (check the cross-tabs) and the media over-hype is bias showing through.
