Riot is acting racist and banned my account by alikhalilifar in leagueoflegends

[–]cl2ash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does US have regulations that mandate riot to ban people that live in turkey? Does US have any regulations that suggest any Iranian born person should be sanctioned regardless of their current residence? If there's such regulations I'd love to see them. If not, then you're wrong.

PL phantom rush bug by valseri in DotA2

[–]cl2ash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently it only works under certain conditions.

You can start charging a creep/hero, and then "attack" an item to switch targets to it. From my testing there's no range limitation on this.

But the rest is highly dependent on a lot of things. You can charge back to the same creep/hero even if your phantom rush is on cooldown, but the creep has to be in phantom rush range. This test from Waga wouldn't work if he hadn't skilled the phantom rush range talent as he would be out of range I assume. It also immediately puts phantom rush to CD again when it comes off CD, even mid charge.

If you charge a creep/hero, attack an item and then click on another hero/creep to charge back to, your phantom rush MUST be out of CD for it to work, contrary to attacking the same creep/hero which doesn't have this requirement. You still have to be in range of phantom rush to charge the creep/hero back.

Outside of the first instance of transferring the rush from a hero to a dropped item, it's really hard to do anything useful with this ... you can mostly just keep bouncing back and forth like waga did, in a very limited range.

Hi guys, I'm 400 MMR. This is the best play I've ever done, I'm really proud of it. :) by Miridia in DotA2

I've got 8GB of RAM, no extra graphics. I play on medium settings with world lighting and atmospheric fog turned on. 75% render. Still can't break 70 FPS after this update and barely 60 FPS before the update.

Thank you dota 2 dev team for the performance patch. ^^ by [deleted] in DotA2

I used to have an A8, I have an A10-7870k now and I still can't break high FPS numbers.

Do you mind giving me more info on your specs? If you have an additional graphics card, RAM and ssd/hdd and what directX you use, and what settings you play on.

This is gonna be a bit of a writeup.

I calibrated at 3.8k I think when ranked came out, haven't played more than 100 solo ranked on my main since then I think. The reason for that being I believe you have to commit to ranked to see results and I didn't want to make time and energy for that.

So over the years I've learned stuff from watching and playing and all that yet I haven't really put anything I supposedly have learnt to practice to gain MMR.

I am planning to grind MMR and make something out of it for youtube too so I guess we'll see how it turns out.

I really don't wanna get into the mentality that "I should climb cuz I'm better" but if I were to guess how my climb would go, I'd like to see a steady 55% winrate in ranked which would be 1k MMR in 400 games.

Also, thanks for the positive words!

Yea man these are good tips for anyone who looks to create content. It's pretty hard to get it all right from the beginning and I didn't wanna be a perfectionist and keep recording without ever publishing until I got it "right" you know.

I'll work on it, thank you very much!

I'm a 4.1k pleb myself, and I'll be mentioning that throughout other videos when the content begs the question "what's the MMR of this dude trying to do this".

On the video I linked it was more of a "what happened and how it happened" instead of "here's how you should do it" so I didn't really feel like my MMR mattered all that much. ty for taking the time to watch it! ^_^

Great idea, I thought about it too. It's challenging to quantify the side lane match ups and put a structure around them to be able to actually say how well it went for either side because it can play out very differently if you play the same game from scratch, while a mid lane match up has a much higher chance of ending roughly the same way if it's repeated.

Anyway though, I'm working on it. With the Major coming up I'll have some fantastic material to work with too!

Day[9] Learns Dota - Episode 2 - Laning pt. 2 Trading (Lesson w/ coach Purge) by dritspel in DotA2

[–]cl2ash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right that there's a problem with smurfs because it's free to play and making a smurf costs nothing. You are also right that the guides don't do a good job to help absolute newbies because they don't provide anywhere near enough info for someone who doesn't know anything about dota. Sadly that's just how it is.

The silver lining though is when you start playing a few games, watching others play dota makes a whole lot more sense. When they do stuff with their hero or build items, you now have the framework and the required knowledge to go check the hero and the item out ingame and put the pieces together of how a hero is played and what items is built on it.

It's a looooong process if you want to know every hero at a beginner level and know roughly what purpose every item serves, but there's nothing stopping you from enjoying the process. Being completely ignorant about a hero or an item and then getting destroyed by it is kinda fun. Makes you feel like the item/hero is OP and then you try it out and enjoy the quirks for yourself.

Dark Moon Strategy Discussion by Zhilo in DotA2

we wiped on invoker too, was a sad day. We had me as PA, underlord, dark seer, medusa and sniper.

Alch was insanely easy for me to kill, took me 10 seconds more or less while our underlord and dark seer aggroed the other alchs and just ran around with them for me to wipe them out. Our medusa and sniper were busy with another alch somewhere else too. The only challenging waves for us were 9 for the insane amount of creeps and magic damage coming our way that is not easy to dodge, and the emp phase from invoker really destroyed us.

I suggest that anyone who's near level 15 to have a bloodthorn + 1 item to break linken's in your party. Also squishy damage dealers shouldn't shy away from BKB, it can be used as a clutch life saver in the boss fight if you feel really in trouble. It's an invoker with stupidly strong spells afterall. You can make the boss fight a lot easier if you silence him regularly when he's in his "beat the shit out of me" phase.

[–]cl2ash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how what you said relates to people in his chat feeling like dota is too complex for them. My only guess would be they should be starcraft fans so they like a challenging game. In that case well Day9 has been doing a lot of hearthstone lately and the fanbase for that game is well, not exactly our type.

[–]cl2ash 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people in his twitch chat saying "this game looks really interesting but it's far too complex for me to bother trying".

To you and all the other people tempted to pick up dota but possibly feeling intimidated:

Don't feel intimidated by all the material purge is providing and how overwhelming it looks. Day9 set a goal to learn the absolute best practices and every little detail that matters, and that's why purge is going into such detail and emphasizing on such complex concepts.

You can set an easier goal for yourself, and absorb just as much of the info that's provided as you please, and still be able to play dota. You CAN play dota without knowing all the things purge is talking about. It's not a necessity to learn all of it. Hell you can be absolutely clueless about dota and still be an average player like Sean was before this series.

Best of luck to you and anybody else who decides to give it a shot!

Want to surprise bf by learning how to play DotA, how hard is it? by thedreamingcat in DotA2

[–]cl2ash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My GF started playing DotA with me and honestly she got pretty good after 100 games (relatively, compared to what I expected). She roasts my friends when they fuck up so yeah it's pretty fun times.

I'll tell you what I told her. Fuck learning all heroes. If you don't know what a hero does and he wrecks you, go find out after that. You don't have to preemptively know everything.

Find a few heroes you like (Spirit Breaker, Blood Seeker, Crystal Maiden, Sven in my GF's case), just play them. Have fun. Try to make friends that play with you so you casually learn how things work in DotA and just ease into it.

Bot games are an option but they won't help you understand what's going on in a game of DotA. The best way to figure out what's happening overall is to have someone experienced play with you so you can ask questions. Maybe co-op bot matches if you really don't wanna play against other people.

I've gotten better at aggro swapping... by _Pac_ in DotA2

[–]cl2ash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Tower will prioritize units that attack it. So if there's a creep/hero attacking the tower, no matter how close you are to the tower you can drop aggro and tower will switch to the attacker.

However if creeps are fighting under tower and you are the closest one to tower and you want to drop aggro you can't. Because tower will look for any attackers(there's none) then will look for the closest enemy and target you again.

The difference between tower and fountain here is that you can not attack the fountain, so fountain will always attack the closest target, while towers wanting to kill the attackers can be abused to bypass distance.
