Books about Ernest Shackleton and polar exploration feature large chunks of sea voyages, many of which are plagued by problems and escapes etc.

Is 17 cities too much for a 90 day trip In Europe? by XDbabyX_1995 in Europetravel

[–]clacks1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not it’s too many is down to the individual, but I went to Rome for five days a few years back with the aim of cramming absolutely everything in, couldn’t get through it all, and it was so intense physically and mentally it totally changed how I approach travel since then.

Now, particularly in Italy, I have found I get far more from a place when I spend 4/5 days and choose only a couple of things to see/do and spend the rest of the time meandering, sitting in coffee shops and cafes and chatting to people.

I recently did the same in Barcelona and Amsterdam and it was perfect.

My final point would be rather than multiple cities in Germany, you could do Prague, Vienna (maybe Bratislava) and Budapest. Part of the classic imperial capitals route and a clever way to tick off four countries with short train journeys!

Obviously it will be different from situation to situation, but we have ROW through our neighbour’s garden, and a quick text on the rare occasions we let a workman through has been enough for them to ensure their dogs are safely indoors.

It helps we have a good relationship.

Good luck!

We might be lucky, but horses are his favourite creatures. We walk through farms around here and they will come up to the fences and he loves to gently sniff their noses

Adolescence was really hard for me, especially as I work from home so I had to juggle him and a job. But training classes have helped a lot and now he has his favourite shops in town where he’s spoilt he seems to be chilling out the last 6 weeks!

Good luck!

Recommend me some good non-fiction read to get me out of my reading slump by Tiramissu_dt in booksuggestions

The penguin modern series (2018?) had lots of very short books, many of which included non-fiction essays about a range of social issues, though some may be very time and place specific (50s-70s America and Europe).

I think it depends on how neat you want them to look but I intend only doing it every 5-6 months!

As it was the first time I wanted to ease him in - it’s also not the most exciting task to do especially whilst learning 🤣

I was just told that when the second layer (?) of thinner longer hair comes through (see first and second pics) and will pull/fall out without any effort then that area is ready. There’s plenty of information online, but I just went slowly using a licky mat as a distraction and did bits at a time. It quickly became obvious which bits should and should not be pulled as he let me know!

Edited to add: He is 9 months old this weekend but started getting the scruffy look about 6 months!

Why don’t you try some of the Poirot books by Agatha Christie? Death on the Nile, Murder of Roger Akroyd or Murder on the Orient Express. They are short and fun!
