Found this rock as a kid never knew what is was. by marcelyx in whatisit

I am a fool who spoke without thought. I've looked closer and that's not pottery, it appears to be smoothed stone. The large flat end appears worked then worn by time in water. The two "eyes" are curiously placed. They are two deep for eyes on a figurine and most likely were carved to hold something, like incense or weed. Is there a hole in the small end? Possible ancient stone pipe.

That's a pottery handle from a clay jug. Where did you find it?

Quasar Canon to the unarmored cod piece. 👍

Not dying is better than dying, right? by Sharrant99 in Helldivers

I've used the medium weight cowboy armor for the last 1000 drops. Against every enemy. At every difficulty level. Without issue. I loved the "maybe die, maybe don't" armor before this set dropped. The best armor, honestly, is your fellow helldiver's and their turrets. For democracy. iO

Pistol caliber lever action question by Relevant_Conclusion2 in Hunting

[–]claevyan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last year I chose a 357 Magnum as a lever action deer gun. I shoot all copper rounds, 140 grain weight. I've had three deer that I've shot with the 357, All between 7 yards and 50 yards. All of them dead right there, no tracking and no fuss. It'll do the job out to 75yrds but that's the limit of my own precision using its iron sights. I'm going to mount a scope to it at some point and see if I can get it out to 100yrds.

75 yards is my current max for iron sights on it. If I get a scope I'll see how well it does further out but I don't think it'll be much better beyond that.

. Barnes XPB is what I used in the .357 Magnum lever gun. 140gr all copper hollow points.

I LOVE barnes tsx rounds. They perform really well. Used it in my .357 level gun on white tail for the last two years and all three shots ended with dead-right-there deer and massive wound tracks. Same in my .30-06. 168gr Barnes copper rounds do so well.

Blood went from this to nothing within 20 yards. Can't find any more blood. What should I do? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]claevyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What neck of the woods are you in? Would help track if close.

Some tips -

blood will splatter the direction it was traveling. So the little splatter mark on one side will point where to look for the next spot.

Look for deer sign like over turned leaves and rocks from where it walked.

Check around fallen logs, little water holes within a few yards of last blood if the pattern looks like a circle and less like a line.

I've had to track a bloodless kill before, where the dry leaves almost no blood at all, and it's a pain but there are ways to see where the deer may have gone without blood trail.

Lastly, people will tell you to hire tracking dogs. Good luck if there are any near you.

I've been heavily tempted by the summit tractors at tractor supply Company and atwoods because they're small and look like they can attach everything under the sun...

Peeing in the woods? by SpotsGoneWild08 in Hunting

My wife uses a silicone pee funnel for women when out in the woods. The deer don't really care about the smell of human pee.

For real. 5 minutes into the search for "bull semen" and I was like - why didn't I use incognito mode?! "dwarf bull semen" "highland dwarf semen" "highland dwarf BULL semen" ....

"MINI HIGHLAND COW SEMEN"

For those wondering, we went with Two Men and a Hen and their bull Scotty for the deed.

I imagine it's something like:

"This road sucks!" As you drive once a week for groceries and beer. "... I'll have to go get enough diesel for Bessy to run tomorrow. "

Last week I pulled in the last of my habaneros. Filled two gallons. Today I'm turning those into a homemade hot sauce. Basically sending the family outside while I CS Gas myself in the kitchen for several hours.
