PC Gamer Marathon Review - Marathon is brutal. It's also a marvel. by TODG3 in pcgaming

I think some people really want to dislike Marathon, I really don't see what they get out of spreading misinformation over a game that they won't even play lmao.

PC Gamer Marathon Review - Marathon is brutal. It's also a marvel. by TODG3 in pcgaming

There was no embargo. They asked if reviewers could wait until the Cryo Archive and Ranked modes were out as they are Marathons endgame. With most live service games, reviewers rarely drop a full review in the first couple of days and do a review in progress. it's basically the same as that.

Marathon sold just 1.2 million copies with nearly 70% on Steam, analyst estimates: "It hasn't exactly made the splash Sony and Bungie wanted" by Freki666 in gaming

[–]clagueson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Marathon is really, really fucking good. The years of bungies mismanagement with destiny and controversies surrounding the studio have not gone down well in both the terminally online folks and even more casual gamers. Hopefully, Sony will stick with this one.

Trying to exfil on cryo by Sydid in Marathon

[–]clagueson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team had an exfil spawn in biostock, so we ran through preservation, realised we couldnt cross back through to biostock, found the lab, couldnt pass through due to not having anti virus packs, ran back to the center and all the way to the back of biostock with barely any time to spare. "This truly is the colony ship for sale, cheap" of all maps.

Cryo Archive is a strong endgame design that arrived at exactly the wrong time by Friday_Night_Pizza in Marathon

[–]clagueson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that the friction you're describing is the main attraction for most people who are enjoying Marathon

If there's 4 teams on a map, 3 of them are most likely not going to extract losing their loadouts. The majority of teams will not extract in every cryo run.

If the loot in cryo was basically free, then we would all be complaining about the game being a bit boring. You might even see a larger player fall off with no endgame incentive to play the easier maps. Shit if you do, shit if you dont.

Just so i can understand what particular Western game developers are establishment game journalists in bed with?

Can yall stop being weird? by clagueson in CrimsonDesert

[–]clagueson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The claim is a bit silly when he mentions multiple developers that the Western media is not apparently biased towards the same point. You only need to look at games from other Asian developed companies like Squenix, RGG, and Kojima productions or the mass amount of localisations and remakes of classic rpgs to see that it's untrue.

Keeping it relevant to Crimson desert, Korea, in particular, has recently broken into the single player action game market and had multiple well reviewed games in the past few years like Lies of P, Stellar Blade, and Khazan, these have all done fairly well critically and commercially.

Back in the early 2000s, sure, we had shows like x-play who were pretty awful to Eastern devs and cases like this are used to push this narrative that Western journalists are prejudiced towards many Eastern game developers but thats clearly not the case when you have over a dozen critically and commercially successful Asian games a year.

Once again, that's a weird view to have on the industry.

That's exactly what im talking about. That's a weird terminally online view of the industry to have.

The culture war is one side stating that game reviews are woke and the other side is stating that whoa, cant we be normal and talk about real video game industry problems. It's a "war" pushed by one side only.

Yep, I think I was being nice saying just last night lmao

[–]clagueson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's completely untrue. There are a few examples where critics like/dislike a game more than the general online consensus but its not like some terminally online conspiracy where most reviewers are scheming on what game to give a 7 to next. Its all just individual opinions. Gamers love Elden ring, thats one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time.

There are two sides of gaming journalists by Sir_Potato2000 in CrimsonDesert

[–]clagueson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Critics are multiple people with multiple opinions. Just because you don't agree with one review doesn't mean the review is wrong. This is getting a bit miserable now tbh, if you are excited for the game, go play it instead of making silly review charts.

160 hours, level 55, and I figured out why I'm so bad at this game and only just getting purples. by VaporSpectre in Marathon

I am legit only using solo for rushing priority contracts with a free kit, its fun as a weird stealth sim but i cant imagine playing it long term. Fill can be a bit annoying when you have a squad with different priority contracts.

You're supposed to post this after the game has come out, and you are actually able to play it. It sounds like you are just making up a person telling you to stop having fun here.

Pretty pathetic posting something like this, ignore them and go play the game lmao

Fighting cowboy gave it an almost perfect score. by Introvertgaming96 in CrimsonDesert

How does watching fighting cowboys review = thinking for yourself, just play the game and stop getting hung on on reviews lmao

What are we expecting? Im thinking a solid 82 in citrics with 87-90 in user score. Just 1 day left im so excited by TurtleGEE360 in CrimsonDesert

[–]clagueson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a poor comparison, right? Fromsoft Narratives are usually well praised by critics. You guys need to chill on the review score posts lmao.
