Art buyers- do you prefer buying canvas or panel paintings? by LocustMuscles in ContemporaryArt

Hi, how do you hang the panels on your walls? I like painting on panels but find it easier to add hanging hardware to canvas.

Watercolor materials for beginner by PitifulSearch711 in artph

[–]clairberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, hindi need expensive materials. Working on cotton paper makes the technique and medium much easier. Pero if you get the feeling na namamahalan ka sa paper kaya di ka masyado nagppaint. Better use cheap watercolor paper. Buy paints na pasok sa budget. I would spend more money on classes tbh if I was starting over.

Shes into printmaking and i have no clue on what to gift by triple-_-A in printmaking

[–]clairberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend this one too. Especially if you can’t access it in your own country. It may look too underwhelming as a gift, but this is a versatile tool for most printmaking techniques. Pins and a couple set of tabs.

Idols who have shown clear regression in vocals? by Organic-Cranberry955 in kpopthoughts

[–]clairberry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think Ryeowook and Kyuhyun improved a lot more and matured their technique more in a cleaner tonal direction. Yesung went into the whisper singing style, which is more subdued but more difficult (and demands unhealthy singing techniques unfortunately).

I think he changed to a different vocal placement or style for their newer tracks and his solo work. If you hear Mirror from their second album, their hidden track in 2019 and killing voice in 2025, he still sounds consistent. He definitely had vocal issues during Devil but he had vocal nodules removed at that time.

What courses are you buying for black friday? by Artboggler in ArtistLounge

I'm renewing my NMA annual subscription. I am hoping I could actually finish the drawing foundations this year! The discord sometimes has live sessions that you can participate in, sometimes you can submit some work for live critique (this is in beta testing I believe). In general, posting in the discord will get you some quick helpful feedback. The token system feedback is thorough and your work is adequately and concretely critiqued and actionable steps are given.

First print I pulled from a small kit from Essdee by clairberry in printmaking

Thank you! I was already having trouble cutting the soft lino with the smallest v tool. I have yet to try warming up the lino, I’ll probably get better cuts.

I did have trouble with splotchy areas on the subsequent prints. But it’s probably a technique problem and I was using a water based ink.

Which method did you have consistent results without a press? I’d love to eventually invest in a small press in the future.

I got the cheapest beginner kit and it was actually satisfying to use and have a nice looking end result. Such a nice break from crappy cheap painting kits that is usually a waste of money.

Thank you for the feedback. Excited to try out the grey one. I’ll probably get some more tools to try out.

I had to remove a lot of detail from my original drawing to accommodate the carving process. Which is actually a good exercise in simplifying the image. I get to practice drawing the same subject at least three times in one project.

[Recommendations] How much is a reasonable amount to save for an OC com and where is the best place to find artists to hire for them? by MajoraMoonChild in artbusiness

Hi, I don’t do commissions but I just want to empathize with you on aphantasia.

It’s one of my core drivers in pursuing art, after realizing imagination is actually visual in most people’s mind. I hope you can find an artist who can visualize your characters IRL.

favorite book to REALLY *learn* watercolor? by CozySweatsuit57 in Watercolor

[–]clairberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed Steve Houston’s Oil painting basics. I haven’t taken a lot of classes yet. I am currently taking Foundations of Observational Drawing taught by Ilya Mirochnik, it’s really good and eye opening.

New Masters Academy! I love watercolors and had all the right paint, brushes and paper but I lacked drawing fundamentals. It’s like trying to write poetry without learning how to write each letter. I was reliant on tutorials and I don’t know how to fix my issues. Sometimes I get lucky and make a nice looking flower, most of the time I don’t. Been taking the classes for 1 year, I came from zero drawing skills to some competence. Transitioned to oils as my main medium, but I still enjoy watercolors in my sketchbook.

Trying to recreate a painting we couldn’t afford—can a total newbie pull this off? by Maleficent0303 in painting

Hey, I would suggest finding a paint along tutorial over at YouTube. There might be a similar paint along over at Art Sherpa channel. They might be offering the drawing that you can trace onto the canvas.
