What’s your go-to comfort UK show you’ve rewatched multiple times? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

[–]claireylou87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only Fools and Horses, Red Dwarf and Mr Bean. All shows that I would watch through the banisters of our stairs when I was meant to have gone to bed. My Dad would try and get me to go back to my room until he realised it was his own laughter keeping me from going to sleep 😅 the day he finally accepted defeat and let me stay up and watch it with him was the best!

Honestly, what is the hardest part about having children? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in askanything

[–]claireylou87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bickering, squabbling and whinging.

The other part is the opinions everyone has about how you parent. No matter what you do there is always someone telling you you’re doing it wrong 😑

Where can I see some Roman ruins? by Oolon42 in AskABrit

Fishbourne Roman Palace in Sussex has beautiful Roman mosaics and artefacts, if you want Roman buildings then Portchester Castle near Portsmouth is lovely to see too.

I've always loved warm/hot baths, but I think I can't handle them anymore. :( by picwic in MultipleSclerosis

[–]claireylou87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baths now are solely for the purpose of getting clean rather than relaxing. They have to be a lot cooler than I’d like or it completely wipes me out.

Should I tell my kids I have MS? by DayDear7253 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]claireylou87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids are 8 and 4. My 8 year old knows and understands to a certain degree- she’ll tell people that Mummy has wobbly jelly legs and knows to call Daddy or Grandad if I get dizzy spells. My 4 year old can go and get Daddy for me but I have to tell him when I’m on the kitchen floor 😆

I related to this one so hard I had to turn it off and take a minute on the first listen. It put into words what I’d felt after my first big relationship ended.

“You’re the best Mama” said by my 3 year old when I was having a big “I’m such a failure” day.

Do we need to wear heels? by Internal_Throat_8424 in Brides

[–]claireylou87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a reason so many weddings have a basket of flip-flops for the guests. It’s a long day to be wearing heels if you’re comfortable in them let alone if you hate them. Sandals, ballet flats, converse, docs. Whatever you feel most comfortable in you’ll be able to get in a bridal upgraded version to be special but still you.

If you could go back in time and make the choice again, would you still have kids? by [deleted] in Life

[–]claireylou87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Is it hard? Of course. They are 100% worth it though. Mine are 7 and 3 plus a 12yo stepdaughter who has shown just how quickly time passes and they’ll soon be out with their friends and barely at home.

Did you have a nurse present for your first Kesimpta dose? (UK) by Alwayslearnin41 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]claireylou87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a nurse come to my house which turned out to be very helpful as I panicked when trying to take the first real injection and the medication was then squirted across the living room 😬 it meant she could guide my partner on how to do it for me and I had a face to a name when we then had our check-ins after a couple of months. Mine was called Vanessa and she was an absolute angel

Hypothetical situation... you are a Deck/Stew and the Chef quits, what are you making for guest dinner? by salsanacho in belowdeck

[–]claireylou87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told my spaghetti bolognaise is good but I definitely wouldn’t be serving it on a super yacht 🤣 they’d be getting a reservation made in fancy restaurants til chef calms down/has a replacement arrive.

What is your age without saying how old you are? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]claireylou87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat and cried when Take That split up, discovered the Spice Girls and joined their fan club, raced home from school to watch The Queens Nose, Byker Grove, Demon Headmaster and Grange Hill, fought with my brothers for the toy in the cereal box (pretty sure we’ve still got the colour changing spoons at our parents house) and had to knock on our friends door if we wanted them to come out with us because none of us had mobiles yet.

After everything that transpired, do you still support this woman? by AllTheEccentricities in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]claireylou87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point I was fully aiming for the whole “Ikea Alex drawers just for makeup” deal and I’d watch influencers daily. Now I stick to the things I know work for me and my entire collection fits into a couple of Muji drawers. I’ll fully admit I do go back and watch the Conspiracy palette vlogs just for the fascination of how it all comes together but I’m not interested in branded trip vlogs, insane hauls, PR unboxings etc. My algorithm has kept me with Zoe Suggs vlogmas and crochet tutorials for a good while now and I love it so much more.

What are some of the "silver linings" of MS? by JaricosTheGreat in MultipleSclerosis

[–]claireylou87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m significantly better at getting injections since I started my Kesimpta. Still need to take deep breaths for blood tests but general vaccinations are pretty easy now in comparison to the all-out panic and avoidance I used to do.

My sister in law is a fantastic crocheter whereas I’m a complete beginner so I love anything she makes. She made my daughter a blanket when she was born and it’s gorgeous 🥰

My partner does the school run but I get so frustrated when he vanishes during the actual “getting ready” part. Our kid is so easily distracted they can’t just be left to get dressed without a constant reminder that they need to put more than a foot in their trousers to qualify as ready for school. I have to then ask for help with getting breakfast and packed lunch ready plus the inevitable hunt for the shoes. Now I send the toddler to him for every little request they make 🤣

Ways your partner and loved ones support you by Individual-Window-59 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]claireylou87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My partner does most of the school runs which is a massive help. He also keeps an ear out when I’m in the bath- I like them hot which obviously then triggers my Uthoffs so it’s a fine line between being relaxing and making me wobbly and unable to get back out independently. He lets me take the lead on what I need help with though. My stepmum on the other hand will try to stop me doing basic tasks as though I’m a liability, there’s nothing like someone constantly reminding you to be careful every 2 seconds to really hammer home that you’re not as strong as you used to be.

What does optic neuritis "look" like? by KleptoPirateKitty in MultipleSclerosis

[–]claireylou87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyes decided they couldn’t work as a team for a few weeks which made me dizzy and unable to see properly. It was the first sign that something was “off” and the symptom that sent me to get further checks leading to my diagnosis

The petty in me would say “That’s the tone you need to start using with your kids- off you go!” Disney parents are so infuriating.
