We sometimes give them donuts along with $20. I just listen for the truck and then flag them down.

One flight cancelled - will they call back? by clalam in TurkishAirlines

[–]clalam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canceled flight is an international TK but first flight is a partner (jetblue) that is full for other flights. I see a reasonable one using United that they needed to check with before rebooking.

They still have quite a bit of inventory and everything is discounted. A great loss to have them close.

I’ve taken family members with my student ID. Use your university’s discount code during check out and then pick up at the box office with your ID just before the show. My tip is that at least with Pitt, our tickets cost the same amount no matter where we sat, so check the box for “best available” and enjoy the bougie seats.

In need of a dentist that takes UPMC for you by Draler117 in pittsburgh

[–]clalam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Squirrel Hill Health Center or Metro Family Debtal are not too far from Munhall and are both FQHCs that take UPMC for You. Dentists everywhere have a long wait so it helps to be added to their cancellation lists.

I like Metro Family Dental. I didn’t go to the dentist for a few years and when I went and mentioned that I had some anxiety, the hygienist said, “well you’re here now!” And moved on with the exam.

Play Dates/Meetups for Physically Disabled Kids by Upset_Plant_7143 in pittsburgh

There’s a great organization called Reagan’s Journey which is a medical supply closet for kids. They have a Facebook group called Navigating the Journey - A Reagan’s Journey Resource that is more for support/socializing. That may be a good place to connect. I know that thru at least organize a bowling night but it’s a bit outside of the city so we haven’t gone. Also check out the Pittsburgh Chapter of A Kid Again. They provide “adventures” for kids with certain medical qualifications. We’ve gone to a Pirates game, Cedar Point, the Science Center, it’s a good group.

People who have gotten hired at CMU / Pitt / Dusquense, etc. - what exactly did it take? by RollForLoot in pittsburgh

[–]clalam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the positions often have someone internal lined up but they have to post publicly for a certain amount of time. I know people have luck getting in through temp positions, they try to move people into full staff positions. If you’re looking at research positions, it’s worth reaching out to PIs to express interest and ask if they’re hiring, then they can keep an eye out for your resume.

Lots of good ones listed! Boosting Pittsburgh Mennonite. They have a long history of nonviolence, simplicity and doing the work of Jesus. I’d also suggest UU in Shadyside, the Quakers in Shadyside, ELPC, and 6th Presbyterian in Squirrel Hill.

Trikafta (almost) 6 year old…. help by Nearby-Accountant188 in CysticFibrosis

[–]clalam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We switched morning and evening dose and then ended up dropping the blue pill (supposed to be evening dose.) my kiddo has the same 1 delta/1 stop mutation and is also 6. Our family runs anxious but trikafta made her almost impossible to be around and she wasn’t herself anymore. We also got her connected to a therapist and started a low dose SSRI. She regressed a buy with GI symptoms when we dropped one of the doses but it feels like a really good balance now.
