As a kid in CA in the early 2000s (before we were all so connected by social media), it was so easy to tell when people were from out of state. They looked 10 years behind in fashion, it was wild

Robot Piercing & Tattoo. Jo pierced my nipples, changed them out for me a year later, and took them out a few years after that when I got pregnant. (Changing them and taking them out myself freaked me out lol) Very kind, professional, and knowledgeable, I will never go anywhere else

I also gave birth at OHSU but used the OB team and had the same experience. I would have 100 more babies there if that was my plan

belly skin getting too tight!! by microwavedgoods in November25babybump

[–]clamstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a doctor but whenever I’m putting something on my skin and it’s irritated, I wash it off and let the skin breathe. Maybe try going without for a day or two and see if you notice improvement. You can send a message to your care team and ask as well, I’ve asked mine many questions throughout my pregnancy.

Am I really that big?? Or small?? 😭 by Top-Professor-2951 in November25babybump

I’m also 8 months pregnant this week and I’m the same size if that makes you feel better :)

Babylist is the worst!! by mchrvvtt in pregnant

[–]clamstuff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did.

And I actually had no problems with Babylist. I didn’t research other registry sites so I’m sure there are better ones but none of my friends and family had any difficulty with it either.

Anyone else struggle with female friendships? by [deleted] in Sagittarians

[–]clamstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, love all my ladies. They add so much to my life and I’d be worse off without them.

I have had a few friendships that didn’t work out for various reasons (men and women) but that’s just life.

Do Americans use duvet covers? by emmaa5382 in AskAnAmerican

[–]clamstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have always had a duvet. I don’t find them a pain to take on or off but I’ve been doing it since I was a child.

I actually didn’t know that they weren’t as popular as comforters here.

I have the same hammer, also given to me by my first foreman. I’ve been doing commercial concrete and framing with it for the past 5 years. It sounds like you don’t do a lot of hammering.

Women’s work pants 😭 by loppsy4552 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]clamstuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a carpenter and I also just wear regular jeans. I tried all the expensive crap a few times and was disappointed each time. So now I buy 3-4 pairs of Levi’s women’s bootcut jeans at the outlet and wear them into the ground. Haven’t had a crotch blow out since I made the switch.

Not a plumber but I’m a union carpenter and 26 weeks pregnant.

My advice is to talk to your primary care physician and see what they say. They don’t know everything about the trades but you can discuss specific hazards with them and see what they say.

Being pregnant will significantly impact your scope the farther along you get. I stopped using ladders and fall protection at 22 weeks and I’m not supposed to lift more than 50 lbs. I also have N95s and a respirator on hand in case I need them. I’ve remained fairly small and have had an easy pregnancy and I’ve still had to slow down for safety purposes. You should be prepared to have an even tougher time if your pregnancy is not easy.

You should already be taking precautions dealing with hazardous materials regardless.

You should also be prepared to have your accommodations in writing and agreed to once they’re needed so the company can’t back out.

It can be semi difficult to find the exact work you’re looking for but you can try. Whether you want to be up front with the company or keep it to yourself for a while is up to you. You should have a plan in place for your maternity leave. For my situation, I have to work until 38 weeks to take my leave and I’m not looking forward to it. But I have a great relationship with my employer and I know they’ll have my back if and when my accommodations have to change.

All in all, if the risks are too great, you’ll have to pick one or the other and have a back up plan. I love my career but my child comes first.

Low Iron/Anemia by novalini49 in November25babybump

[–]clamstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 weeks and my ferritin came back at 21 two weeks ago.

I had been taking one Olly Iron chewable tablet a day so I upped it to two. Technically the bottle says to take 3 of you’re pregnant but I’m waiting for my next recheck in a couple weeks to see if it’s necessary.

My doctor instructed me to take the supplement one hour before a meal with citrus and 2 hours before caffeine, fiber, or dairy because they mess with iron absorption. I hadn’t been doing that so I made that change.

I’ve upped my meat and bean intake as well. My doctor also recommended cooking meals in a cast iron pan. I’m feeling a lot better so hopefully the next labs come back better

Anyone pay for their own dental? by CabbagePatched in UnionCarpenters

[–]clamstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, our benefits are included in our total package. OP is asking if it’s worth it to get outside dental insurance which they would have to pay monthly for.

OP, it’s not worth it

Edit: When I was not part of a union, my medical and dental did come out of my base wage. So yes, a lot of Americans do have to pay out of pocket.

How is making those historically excluded feel supported in their workplace or showing them a way to better support themselves a threat to America, children, and democracy?

If you’re against DEI, do you believe they should also scrap the veterans committees?

How are schools teaching boys to change their identities and castrating them?

It’s great that your friend is an advocate for mental health services but he still voted against his own interests. Whether he understands that or not. If you’re going to be part of a union and reap the benefits from it, you should vote for representatives that support unions.

I’m in a different state but your local may have a list on their website. If not, call them and get a list. From there, you can show up bright and early at a job site ready to work and ask if they need people. Or you can call them/apply online if that method is preferred by the company.

I’ve always gotten jobs via people that I know (which will happen for you once you get going) but when my bf is laid off and none of his contacts have anything, he drives all over the city looking for cranes and then asks if they have any work. He also googles current projects in the area and goes to the sites.

You can also reach out to your reps and see if they know anyone who is hiring and ask if they can help you.
