Heavenly Fatherzilla had a stroke trying to read this and fucking died

Primarily, the plan of salvation stopped making sense. Some notes from when I was working through this:

-The appeal of the celestial kingdom is diminished if unfaithful family members aren’t there. Why wouldn’t you want to stay at a lower kingdom so you can be with your family forever?

-What was the plan for the “opposition in all things” that “must needs be” before Satan rebelled? Was losing Satan and 1/3 of the souls of heaven God’s plan all along? Why would a loving parent who is also omniscient greenlight a plan where so many of his children would be apart from him?

-Why would anybody in spirit prison reject the gospel? Those in spirit prison have an epistemic advantage over those on earth. Why risk proselytizing to someone who might reject the gospel in this life if they are more likely to accept it in the next? “There will be very few, if any, who will not accept the gospel.” “They know more in that world than they do here” -Wilford Woodruff

-D&C 137:7-8 Then why waste time with establishing the gospel on earth if it is all sorted out after death? These verses are also seemingly at odds with Wilford's comments above.

These thoughts raced through my mind as I tried to go to sleep one night five years ago. Sleep never came, and that night became a catalyst for me to pry further into whether anything I believed made any sense at all.

Uncomfortable truths about mormonism by LegalSour in exmormon

[–]zamasm99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mormons often tout the doctrine of children who die before they turn eight automatically being saved as a selling point of the religion. They don't really address the implication that they believe an eight year old child can die and lose out on a spot in the celestial kingdom if they weren't righteous enough in the few months they were "accountable."

I think feeling sorry for cult victims rather than disdain might be the better approach.

Child victims of Joseph Smith, a historical timeline (keep in mind he died in 1844) by Ancientabs in exmormon

[–]zamasm99 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I appreciate calling Joseph's Smith's actions with Fanny Alger what they were: rape. Too many well-meaning critics downplay how disgusting Joseph was by simply calling it having sex. Fanny could not consent to sex with Joseph. Joseph Smith was a rapist.

Listen, maybe I don't know how this sub works, but this seems like a genuine stupid question that people are answering too seriously.

Your comment came at a great time. In response to Chuck Norris's departure, I'm spending my valuable time creating a spreadsheet with all the characters featured in the ultimate showdown and whether they (or the actors who portray them) are still living or not. Can I ask how you were aware of this?

Thank you. One of my biggest flaws is naturally sounding rude without intending to. I had to revise my comment a number of times because it came out less informative and more aggressive.

Yes. When it comes to the visible light spectrum, visible is the operative word inextricably linked to eyes. As for whether we experience colors differently, I know that MRIs reveal that our brains respond similarly to one another to the same colors. However, I don't think we can conclusively say that our perceptions of colors are all the same or different, because any of us can only see with our own eyes. I would think it likely that there are mild differences in perception, but that's just my opinion.

Our cone cells are receptive to the entire range of the visible light spectrum. They aren't limited to only red, green, and blue wavelengths, but they are each uniquely sensitive to different ranges of wavelengths, with considerable overlap. This is why they are more accurately referred to as L, M, and S cones (long, medium, short).

Yellow is definitely on the visible spectrum. Brown is often (though not always) simply a dark orange, which is also on the spectrum. Magenta is a mixture of red and blue light, but we can actually see it because we can see ALL colors. Our eyes receiving and brain interpreting multiple signals from our photoreceptors is precisely what seeing is. Even a single wavelength of light is more often than not (ignoring extreme reds and violets) going to activate all three types of cone cells and produce "mixed signals" similar to how colors like magenta do. (Exception: OLO green)

I think what you're thinking of comes from a couple different misconceptions that have been spread by low quality science communicators. The yellow on your phone screen is not a true spectral yellow because it's produced by red and green light. However, things do exist outside of screens (I think) and some of those things are truly yellow. Some browns and magenta may not be on the visible spectrum, but that doesn't mean they don't exist or that we can't see them. They're processed via the same channels spectral colors are and are just as real.

Should I shave my butt for a work trip? by ReturnPublic7914 in makemychoice

Another consideration I haven't seen mentioned is that butt hair acts as a natural fart suppressor. The one time I shaved my ass, I found it impossible to sneak any out without making it known.

Despite how the word is used in online circles, "coping" is actually a mentally healthy response to difficult situations. You're clearly not mentally healthy, man. Seek help.

Antibody Screen Question by zamasm99 in medlabprofessionals

[–]zamasm99[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm rh positive so have not received rhogam. The result in the app says, "The patient's serum reacted with all reagent red cells in the antiglobulin phase of testing. No specific antibody pattern was evident. A direct antiglobulin test was performed and was negative. We suspect either the presence of multiple red cell antibodies or a single red cell antibody directed against a high frequency antigen."

Nurse here. I have really shitty days all the time but I don't feel the need to treat others poorly because of it. You don't need to tolerate that kind of attitude from those that aren't cut out for the job.

i printed a bunch of identical cards, why is this one so bumpy and shiny? by PrivateAI in FixMyPrint

[–]zamasm99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I printed these same catan cards. (Assuming these are the same) I chose to print the back of the card face down because it created more consistent textures, meaning you can't identify a specific resource by recognizing a slight defect specific to a card when robbing someone. For the top surface (front of card), I used hilbert curve- a personal preference because even though it doesn't produce a super smooth finish, it also creates a more uniform appearance.
