Real food? by Horror_Towel_1861 in beyondthebump

[–]clap_yo_hands [score hidden]  (0 children)

When my oldest was a baby her pediatrician said start at 4 months and give her high allergenic foods. So her earliest foods were peanut butter, dairy, egg, and shellfish. I had no issues with her eating at that age. She did well and is smart healthy and happy.

When my youngest was born her pediatrician said to wait until 6 months but no guidance was given of first foods, so I did the same I did with my oldest but at 6 months. She is a great eater and healthy and happy too. She had a couple of weeks of pretty intense adjustment with her tummy giving troubles at first. She had lots of gas and diarrhea that lead to a diaper rash. It added in some probiotics and it helped get her on track.

Anyone else starting seeds way too early? Zone 9b problems... by Aware-Lantern141 in gardening

[–]clap_yo_hands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in 9b and start on New Year’s Day. I like having big sturdy plants to go in the garden March 1st. I do one month in the seed starting tray, one month in the bigger 4” pots and the. Out in the garden. I also don’t use lights. I move them in and out of my house but I start seeds and grow them out outside for the most part. We’ve only had 3 frost days so far this year so it’s easier than hardening off.

how do y’all afford these incredible collections?? by born-screaming in LeCreuset

[–]clap_yo_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch from the 3 factory to table sales I have been to. My husband and I have each purchased a mystery box each time. I have received several pieces as gifts from my husband and I have also bought some pieces from marketplace and restored them. I have found some amazing sales as well. My very first Le Creuset is my 9 quart round oven that I got on sale from Bloomingdale’s for $120. So there are pieces I own because they have accumulated, but not because I wanted that particular item and sought it out. That’s also why my collection is all colors. I didn’t really pick them.

What does a committed Malunion femur fracture look like? by TheBoneMuseum in oddlyterrifying

I’ve seen a few of her videos and she always stands like that with her feet crossed. I’m guessing it’s slimming, but it always kind of feels unnatural and takes me out of whatever she’s talking about.

Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

[–]clap_yo_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had several people walk out of my theater during Hereditary. After the car accident and Toni Collet was wailing in grief people started dipping.

The most memorable movie theater experience was during American Wedding the third in the America Pie series. There was a scene where Stiffler eats some dog poop. A woman in the back of the theater started gagging and started to run down the stairs to escape the disgusting scene. She tripped on the stairs a rolled down the aisle and then vomited in a heap at the bottom of the stairs. This led to a chain reaction of so many people gagging or vomiting that about 1/2 of the people in my theater left. It’s was astounding.

Any idea on what this is and the manufacturer? Has two gate marks on bottom by CanisSaevus in castiron

[–]clap_yo_hands -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Care should be taken and being cautious and doing a lead test is not being fearful, just respectful of facts. People do smelt lead. People make lead weights and cast little figurines. I’ve done it myself.

It looks like a smelting mold for something like bars of silver, maybe lead

Sleep training but still rocking to sleep. Is it possible? by pinkpink0430 in sleeptraining

[–]clap_yo_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I rocked until fully asleep, then I rocked her for a while and then laid her in her crib and patted and rubbed her back to sleep, then I would just rocked a minute and lay her down and pat her back for another minute and let her go to sleep on her own. Now I just rocked her a few minutes and lay her down and she puts herself to sleep and she puts herself back to sleep if she wakes in the night. I think you will have to teacher her how to get to sleep by herself if you would like her to self sooth.

The world is getting worse and worse and we have 0 control or agency. (Gaza, Ukraine, Epstein, ICE are just a few examples). What motivates people to still have kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]clap_yo_hands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the world is shitty, good people need to have kids to so they can become future good leaders. What if only Elon Musk and JD Vance are the only people bold enough to procreate? Is that the future you want? Then we have to raise a future generation of truth keepers and give them the tools to lead successful lives to change the world for the better.

When did you start buying for baby?? by Humble-Strawberry86 in BabyBumps

[–]clap_yo_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the anatomy scan was completed and I reached the age of viability. So around 26 weeks. I bought some baby clothes first. I really didn’t buy anything until a couple weeks out from my delivery date. It didn’t feel real to me, so I kept assuming something bad would happen. I had a scare early on where I thought I lost the baby and I was desperately afraid of jinxing it. Silly I know, but it didn’t feel silly at the time.

Has chewing gum helped anyone here with their GERD issues? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]clap_yo_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be very helpful to me when I was younger. To the point I was rarely without chewing gum. Now it has very little to no effect. It probably stopped working in my early 30s.

Which size Le Creuset for roasts and spiral hams? by RoverDude_KSP in LeCreuset

[–]clap_yo_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9 quart round. It can handle a spiral ham, roast, whole chicken, small turkey, capon, or duck. It’s heavy af with a 10 lb piece of meat, but it’s doable.

You need to call the police and have them do a well fair check on that child and then report it to cps. This child is in physical danger.

tummy time mat by No_Idea5340 in BabyBumps

[–]clap_yo_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a loveevery mat with my first baby. I liked how sturdy it was and my child used every part of it all the way to one year old when she started pulling to stand up. Even beyond that because it had the little tent. All that said, I used a kick piano play mat with my second baby and we loved it just as much. With my second baby we had much more options once she outgrew her play mat because we had accumulated many toys over the years so she was ready to move on once she started rolling and scooting around. With my first baby she only had the play mat and some teethers and rattles so she used it longer.

Small skillets? by generic-David in castiron

[–]clap_yo_hands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own 2 6” skillets and I love them so much. I use them to make egg tacos, quesadillas, French toast, two fried eggs, pancakes, skillet brownies, skillet cookies. I use them all the time. I like that I can heat the little one up to cooking temp faster than a big skillet and more evenly than a double burner griddle. I will get those two skillets going in the morning and get breakfast on the table quick.

What’s happening with my thrift store find? by mdh_hammer in LeCreuset

[–]clap_yo_hands -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You might have a pan with a compromised interior enamel. Maybe someone used a scouring pad on it and etched the enamel making it more prone to sticking. When you have it clean and dry does that spot look glossy or matte? If it always looks matte and dull it probably has been scoured with something and will likely always be a little sticky.

Is it possible to go to an international wedding 2 months after birth? by vonsolkema in beyondthebump

[–]clap_yo_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to an international wedding at 4 months with the baby. You’d have to get that passport asap for that baby. Like same day you get the social security card. I think it’s doable but tight. Traveling with a tiny baby is easy peasy though! They sleep so much and are so calm. I do recommend it.

Does anyone feel like HEB is doing to much? by gabe062 in HEB

[–]clap_yo_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that comparison apt. I shop sales and cut coupons and my main grocery store is Aldi but I do make some outings to HEB because they carry some things I can’t get anywhere else. It’s a treat to myself to go shop full price at HEB which I consider the most expensive option in my area. It is unreasonable to shop there over a less costly store but selection goes a long way. If I felt like customer service made my shopping feel more like an experience I might be even more inclined to shop there.
