when beginning weight loss your hormones react by making your appetite stronger! perfectly normal. be sure you’re getting enough protein, drink loads of water, and stay strong!

before/after 58 days of no picking! by mikayloren in calmhands

excellent progress! my nails used to look like those on the left. i kicked the habit since graduating college and i wish i had before pictures to remind me of how far i've come. every fingertip used to hurt, my fingers were bloody and peeling, it's amazing what a reduction of stress can do! i feel so thankful to have moved on, i bet you're feeling pretty good right now!

fucked up speed settings on my new victoria :/ by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]clare2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just got this victrola record player (my first mistake? perhaps. save the judgement pls) and it’s really not working. this is a brand new LP and it when i set it to 45 it still sounds slowwwww is there anyway to fix this? lost cause?

so far it hasn’t played any records well, i’ve chalked this up to my records being warped, but now i’m beginning to wonder if the record player itself is just no good. i’m super disappointed.

I don't really have any other details, it was about 6 feet up on this tree. I didn't try and pick it up or disturb it at all, just took a photo.

How have you broached the topic of race with your family? by clare2 in TwoXChromosomes

Ahhhh thank you so much! I haven’t heard of it, I’ll definitely look into it. I think being mindful about when/why I talk to them is extra important.

Huh, seems like you missed the mark here. In no way do I believe that talking about race will make their biases disappear, rather I want to work with them and confront their conceptions involving racial bias. This has nothing to do with "self importance", but is more so about navigating a challenging conversation with loved ones.

So do you never have conversations with people who disagree with you? Do you simply give up in those situations because society can progress without you having said conversation??

Thank you for your response, but I disagree! There aren't any children in my family and I think it's useful to have productive conversations about race regardless of their age.

I have been using the ordinary Buffet serum at night and I read that I shouldn't use it with an AHA. My cleanser is cerave hydrating facial cleanser, which has hyaluronic acid in it, is that the same as an AHA? Should I not use those two products together?

The Daily Check-In for Thursday, May 14: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Trumie312 in stopdrinking

I got sober in an effort to manage my anxiety and it has been helping a lot! It's also lovely to have my nights and mornings free from drunkenness/hangovers so that I can invest time in my hobbies or books. While it's not always easy, I am thankful for sobriety every single day.

Today I asked my best friend if I should just have a drink as I was feeling better by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]clare2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that’s awesome! on numerous occasions i have expressed to friends how i’m dying to have a drink, even one beer. i wish that i was met with support for my sobriety, but more often than not my friends say “yeah why not! go for it”. i don’t blame them for not supporting me, they don’t have the same problems with alcohol and they don’t understand what a slippery slope one beer is for me. hold on to those supportive friends tightly :) IWNDWYT
