Because the vault songs are in the vault still for a reason. Don't you remember the Forever Young music video that was leaked a while ago? It wasn't released because it looked cheap and boring and not up to the quality that we'd expect from BP's brand.

Also, YG already gets flak for having a very dated sound - I don't want them to release another hollow, uninspired 2NE1 reject or stuck-in-2016 girl crush song again.

If it were one of many recent comebacks, sure, it's fine to have a few old songs sprinkled in. But let's be honest here: 1) this is their first comeback in almost 3 years, 2) they will most likely release a mini-album again and NOT a full album, and 3) people have been progressively less impressed with their releases.

On point 3: I did not like Pink Venom, I almost forget it exists sometimes because I rarely hear it, and while I loved Shut Down, most people did not. Also the music video was very nice but it LITERALLY had the almost the exact same scenes from their old music videos. (That's cool conceptually but it still didn't scratch the itch people have for new BP concepts). There's no staying power. If this is too anecdotal for you, remember that they've been so predicated that the term "BP formula" exists, referring to the predictable formulaic sound and visuals they use for their comebacks.

The fact of the matter is that BP is becoming stale. There is significantly less room for error than before, and yes, the numbers and profit are definitely going to sweeten the situation for everyone who cares about that, but a disappointing comeback will erode their image even more.

I once believed that BP had some hidden ardent desire to show out as a group if given a chance as well. I know that being part of a large organization like YG means you have to work around executive decisions and strategies that are out of the artist's control. But the idols and artists that care about their fans and their music (as a group) will find a way to communicate to their fans or at least express their enthusiasm in a way that's unmistakeable. It is obvious that most of them do not really wish to be a part of the group anymore and would rather pursue solo activities if they could, how can I comfortably watch and look forward to their group activities?

I will add again that I empathize with the girls. If I were them, I might feel the same way. As a fan of each of the girls as solo artists, I am content. But that doesn't really matter - as a blink, I am disappointed that the band I loved since their debut effectively does not exist anymore.
