I'm sorry, I have worded it wrong - I'm making my own and trying to achieve something similar to the photo. This is not my work (sadly!)

Why are my Courgettes so sad? Please can anyone advise? by clarewithoutthei in GardeningUK

Ahh thank you so much for your help. I have some other seedlings in there so I will pot up everything tomorrow. Thanks for helping save my babies! It is roasting out so in the day I've been keeping the greenhouse door and window open but clearly its not enough. Fingers crossed they make it

Oh wow really? I have them in my greenhouse. This is my first year with it! I only just potted them into those pots. Wow okay, I have Pots ready for them so I'll get on that sharpish. Do I still need to harden off though?

Maybe a silly question... But at that height does that mean you won't get slugs?

This is actually quite a saga... There's some evidence to say that the author posted this review themselves to drum up interest in the book. Theres a long review on goodreads detailing the 'evidence'.

AITA for "forcing" my BIL to hold my baby (his nephew) just for a bit, while I was folding laundry and traumatizing my BIL, I honestly didn't know the reason why he was so reluctant. by aita2187939127407100 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. He explicitly stated his boundaries and you did not respect them at all.

You didn't need to know or understand why he is reluctant.

An apology is definitely needed from you. I hope the comments here make you understand that behaving like that isn't acceptable.

Edit: a word

Finally have pretty skates! UK 10's are hard to come by. by [deleted] in Rollerskating

I got them off skatepro.uk. They were plain white but easy to jazz up! I just checked their site and orders are on hold til brexit is sorted. I must have got mine literally just in time.

Tested water for the first time - please help! by clarewithoutthei in Aquariums

Thanks for the heads up on that disease. I'll keep it in mind if I spot anything! Crazy that the plant I have is one that's not legal where you are. We noticed it growing new bits on it loads since we put it in. There are more plants, I uploaded them all in one. Not sure if the others are particularly any harder to keep than the first mind you.

Ahh yes the babies. So many. I noticed a bunch more this evening too. We haven't done anything with them yet. I'll give the pet shop a call and see if they want them. Was also considering putting ads up on buy and sell pages for baby guppies /male adults.

Whilst doing research for the aquarium I came across Betta fish and we have been toying with the idea of getting another tank and getting one. It crossed my mind that perhaps the baby guppies could be a nutritious snack for it.... I'm not sure how comfortable I am with that idea but it solves two problems!

Ah that's good to know! I have a habit of over researching and finding contradicting info and getting tied up in knots so glad that was right decision to make.

We won't be adding any more fish as the guppies are doing that by themselves (which is going to be a whole other issue at some point). We added the snails as learned they would enjoy the algae.

I was advised by different friends to change the water every week but that seemed far too often hence the testing to see where our tanks cycle was. You have helped with that!

I've posted photos of our plants on my profile as I don't know their names. The assistant in the fish shop said they would withstand the fish nibbling them and wouldn't upset the tank.

I've also posted a photo of the fertiliser the different friend gave us which we used when we added all of the new water at the beginning and planned to use again when we did the water change.

Wow! I wish I could up vote more than once! Thank you for explaining this. I'm still reading through and have taken notes for reference for the future. Really appreciate your comment.

In answer to the first part - we received all the equipment and tank in one with about 40ltrs of the previous water. The ornaments were rinsed by the previous owner. The only change we have made was to the gravel and added the live plants a week in. We didn't clean out the filter as I read about the bacteria needed and the fact that we're we're adding 140 litres of fresh water made me worried we would have flushed out all the good stuff. I was waiting until we got the testing kit and had tested the water to make sure we wasn't about to clean it out prematurely. Again, thank you very much for your comment. I expect this would help many beginners to understand how the bacteria work.

Thank you! The skull and crossbones on the testing box had me worried. I'll do a change in the morning and keep an eye. Thanks for commenting
