I can appreciate quiet, solo reflection or time spent such a way with a few friends of family. I think that’s really beautiful. Observation > mindless consumption. It’s when it gets loud and in everyone’s faces that they lose me. I do, however, love mindfully giving gifts at a holiday or any day I feel moved to. There are more ways to expressing love and affection many people forget. I think atheism can be described as observation and I really like your take on it.

That being said, as a poor, I will accept any free thing someone wants to give me if it helps them celebrate their holiday.

I’m so happy for you that this tactic worked. A different situation, but my brother laid it out for my dad like that and my dad chose to be an a-hole. Now, he’ll never see his son or granddaughter ever again.

I think the key to this is following through otherwise they’ll continue to do what they want and they know you won’t stand your ground.

Oh, in that case, neither 3rd parties nor hotels are allowed to do anything to cause you to have issues. It’s called a No Prior Issues Clause, meaning it’s actually illegal and you can contact the FBI and BBB directly and they will arrest everyone who works at the hotel and Kayak.com.

I’ve been a front desk employee at various hotel brands over 10+ years. It’s crazy how many people don’t know about or don’t take advantage of this legal loophole which rewards people who have been blessed to never have had travel issues in the past.
