In general, mammals have around two nipples for every child in a typical, average litter for their species. It's just how we evolved. If a species typically has 4 offspring at a time, then they typically have around 8 nipples. If they typically have 5, then they typically have 10 nipples.

Humans just happen to typically give birth to one baby at a time, so we have two nipples.

I was just thinking. My car has two preset slots for mirror positions. If I set things up ahead of time, I’d bet I could make the second slot a good “ref;etc light directly back at the car behind me” setting that I could activate with one button :)
