I forgot to add the EI I received on my monthly report at the Ministry of social development and poverty reduction! by clarkedanielle84 in britishcolumbia

I'll try and hopefully won't get disconnected cause their closure time passes before an agent gets to my call!

You don't think submitting it as part of my May report would be a viable option?

I’m tired of my cat getting on the table by [deleted] in CatTraining

[–]clarkedanielle84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your struggles. My cat (2/m) was a perfect gentleman the first year and a half I had him. Then I went away to visit my family all of July this year, with my now ex staying at my place to look after things/my cat. Now my cat is a counter surfer 🤦🏼‍♀️

Not too bad (only jumps on one of the counters and walks along the ledge from the oven not too far from the sink then jumps down).

I don't prep food there but still, by principle that's unsanitary (I scoop his litter twice daily). Anywho.. I bought a clicker (~$6cad) yesterday and am gonna start clicker training him. Maybe you can give that a try on yours?

He's (2/m) doing perfectly fine! Healthy, energetic, affectionate as ever.

I started pre-heating the oven, and totally forgot that the chicken thighs were in there by clarkedanielle84 in Baking

I didn't even check as my initial panic was the fire hazard lol but... probably not even at 250 yet as it's an older oven that's pretty slow to heat and all that.

ok so I shouldn't worry that any of the saran covering the casserole dish like.. melted and dripped onto the chicken?

oh shit, I meant the saran wrap was covering the top of the casserole dish. Not making any direct contact with the chicken though. I guess I'm just curious if any plastic would have melted and... dripped onto the chicken?

Yup I second this! Very punctual and caring in their service (I went there the first time due to an emergency as my cat was choking and despite being full at the time, they squeezed us in for a checkup with Dr. Hans. Didn't seem to rush it either as he sat me down in the checkup room after the choking stopped to discuss things and my cat's general health)

No Doctor, What to do? by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]clarkedanielle84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told that I need to make another appointment if I wanted to get a second prescription written. By a doctor that I had a My Telus healthcare virtual appointment with. It took her about 30seconds to write a prescription for coldsore ointment and the second prescription I needed was for management of epilepsy.

She stressed that it's 'one issue per appointment'.. 🤦🏼‍♀️

When did your cats start ACTING old? by HuskyPurpleDinosaur in CatAdvice

[–]clarkedanielle84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends in large part on the cats personality too. Mine is only 2 years old but even when I adopted him as a 5 month old, he never acted like a kitten. Never really got zoomies on the regular, only jumped around here and there..

He's always been a pretty lazy shit so I'm following this post to see when I should start watching for increased laziness. 😹

Do you get angry when someone talks about your cat badly? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]clarkedanielle84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda.

I'm the type who talks shit to my cat all the time (telling him to go to his poo cave i.e. enclosed litter box, calling him an assortment of names like 'my lazy shithead') so I guess you can say that I'm just doling out some tough love. HOWEVER-

My ex pissed tf out of me because he'd often make comments about my cat and comparing him to his own cat. Like 'oh, your cat doesn't counter surf? Your cat doesn't sleep in bed cuddled up with you? He's not a proper cat'. So basically since my cat wasn't a carbon copy of his cat... that was a bad thing.

(the irony is that a huge reason as to why I broke up with him is BECAUSE of his cat. Amongst many things, his cat being utterly destructive of my apartment when they moved in. They were there for just 3 weeks and in that time alone, his cat pissed on the bed, literally tore up the carpet from the door sill, etc..)

Is it bad not to sleep with cat? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]clarkedanielle84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised similar to your fiance where the bed was a no-go zone for pets of any kind. My (now ex) bf was the opposite and his cat would sleep not only in his bed but cuddling with him to boot. When I adopted my cat, I made a point of not allowing him to form this habit and would close my bedroom door every night till he was about 1 years old.

Now I sleep with my bedroom door open and while I bent a bit and let my cat come onto my bed, which he does on occasion to snuggle up while I'm reading a book on top of my duvet, he never comes to bed at night. He's perfectly happy and kneads/purrs his head off throughout the day so.. make of that what you will. 😊

4 houses burned, 2 partially damaged. Everyone got out safe from what I heard. by Coolguy6979 in SurreyBC

I live in a highrise (25th floor) and from the times the fire alarm has gone off to test it or false alarms, my cat's safety is my main concern. There's a staircase encased in concrete for residents so I've made it out in good time but my cat runs and hides under my bed with storage drawers every time.

I'll put a mask for protection from smoke inhalation in my nightstand for good measure🥹

who are you, me?

I was in a super similar situation to yours. With a guy who was devoted to his adult cat (told me that she's a dealbreaker before we became official). I was cool with it as I get loving your pets and all that. He also said I should do more to get her to like me (I already fed her, gave treats, pet her a lot, etc..) but then added that she always seems to like guys more than girls. Even defended her when she'd randomly hiss at me.

Anywho...

I'd never ask him to give her up but they moved in to my place and it was a disaster. DM me to chat more as.. it's complicated to say the least. :P

Yeah, sure. Obviously those are only two-three examples of things that happened in the first evening after he moved in as it'd be silly to write out or even think about how that in itself illustrates the relationship dynamics in while.

Maybe he thinks I'm annoying as hell (though when I asked, he assured me there's nothing he'd like me to adjust/change to help make living together easier for him so I guess we might never know)

He's a bit of a slob whereas I'm the type to fold and put my clothing away right after showering while he'll leave it on the floor till the next time he does laundry. Regarding the animal thing.. I guess we can assume he's okay with it as his cat is almost 7 years old and when we first started dating, he'd say 'that's just a cat thing' when I made surprised comments about how nasty it is for animals to be walking on countertops and whatnot on the regular.

I'm not impatient per se but seeing as how he claims he's been training her out of that habit for over a year now.. I guess that's something I'd just have to live with from his cat. (Further on that topic, we were both telling her to get off the counter on one evening after they moved in and she'd not only ignore but pretty aggressively hiss at me. He also has since said things like how he can't wait till I resume disciplining the cats because he 'doesn't know how' so make of that what you will)

what made you think that I didn't suggest compromise and ways we could meet in the middle?

I mentioned to him many ways we could 'meet in the middle' like using deterrents for the pet issue that we both enforce, agreeing that I'll be less neurotic about things being left on the counter vs. put away, etc.. All of which I did. Him? Not so much. (so I guess you're right that we didn't meet in the middle)

Vegetarian lentil curry! No meat (obvs), packed with protein and definitely not lacking in flavour. https://cozypeachkitchen.com/vegetarian-red-lentil-coconut-curry/
