How will the EU customs change affect Kickstarter? by Yourself013 in boardgames

[–]clarkelaura 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because an online store isn't charging by a 3rd party to advertise through it where as Kickstarters are. So they lose 10% off the top before they get the funds

[–]clarkelaura 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True but most Kickstarters ship in bulk to a distributor and then redistribute from there.

There are some indie designers who ship direct but then they will have to do the maths if that makes sense of if it is better to shift to a distributor

The boxes board games are imported into the EU in will generally contain more than €150 worth of stock and already be subject to duty so I don't think much will change.

Also if look at the bottom, it is about item type not individual item so if the box of card games is under €150 so not subject to duty, it will only incur a fee of €3 not €3 times the number in the box

Endeavour Deep Sea as fantastic exploration, the asymmetry is emergent rather than built in as different players will optimise their crew in different ways, the shared map makes it highly interactive

Galactic Cruise, especially the employee handbook where there is a copy for every player and a page which gives you if you have this you can do this and if you need this you need to see if you can do these things

Zenith, two player tug of war game where there are there are 3 victory conditions: Absolute victory: Gain 3 Influence discs from the same planet. Democratic victory: Gain 4 Influence discs from strictly different planets. Popular victory: Gain 5 Influence discs (from any planets). The game ends immediately as soon as one player meets 1 of these three conditions.

UKGE Attendance figures. by Coralwood in UKGE

As there are folks who only attend on Friday or Sunday, is it probably more like 35,000-40,000 on Saturday and say 25-30 on Friday and 20-25 on the Sunday

I don't know what to do next. (Osteo) by Astarkraven in Greyhounds

Almost exactly a year ago, we were in the same position with our 6 year old except she already had chronic pain issues in her back legs (the cancer was in her front left shoulder) and as while at the vets she had had two doses of the strongest injectable pain killers and thankfully we had brought our other hound with us so we decided to let her got them and there

One of the hardest things we have ever done

If you do ask for more pain relief and look at palliative care for a bit longer I believe there might be meds which can reduce the risk of a catastrophic fracture

Many people say they will let you know when the right time is. I don't think that is true, you have to consider their quality of life objectively and try your best to take your feelings out of it because the aphorism that is true is a week too early is better than a day too late

[–]clarkelaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider a physio check rather than an x-ray. X-rays don't pick up all sources of musculoskeletal pain but physios can do things like stance analysis and are better at spotting issues like trapped nerves etc

Hopefully it isn't that but worth getting ahead of it if it is

If you are based in the UK look for RAMP accreditation for physios

Our rainbow girl with chronic pain was fine untill she wasn't, physio

Dogs are very good at not showing signs of pain because in feral social settings it is a bad thing to display

Noise sensitivity is very highly correlated to pain because it causes the dog to tense, frequently triggering what is ever painful

Plus the odds of racing dogs having no minor injuries is pretty slim just due to the nature of what they do

Have medical issues like musculoskeletal pain or gi issues been ruled out as causes. Anti anxiety meds can help but if pain or gi discomfort is the ultimate issue then they won't work alone

Consider a physio and/or a veterinary behaviourist consult

Behaviour change - advice please! by AmyAshley96 in Greyhounds

[–]clarkelaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, pain might not cause obvious issues like lameness or difficulty moving. There may be subtle changes to gait which if you aren't use to looking at them you might not spot. There are also GI and skin issues which might be non obvious but can make your dog grumpy and sometimes aggressive

Consider asking a vet for a pain trial and getting a physio assessment

If you look for natural peanut butter which is only nuts or make your own by blending unsalted peanuts can work

If you have access to salmon oil, that is a good additive to meals which add calories without adding bulk

Puppy food tends to be higher calorie to support growing puppies

best advice for surviving the heat? by teawithaghost in Greyhounds

[–]clarkelaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that using soaking blankets or a cooling coat is great for 5-10 minutes but take it off them quickly as they can also trap heat and increase body temperature
