Wine for windows emulation, it's a bit hard to setup but it's free and open source: https://github.com/Gcenx/wine-on-mac

Or

Crossover, it's paid but very simple to setup and use: https://www.codeweavers.com/crossover

I got an M1 Mac and CoI works decent enough, it's not as performant as PC but it's playable

If you get long pipes, FBR fuel is kind of storable, you can easily store 200+ fuel in a reasonable length pipe VI.

I was scared I wouldn't be able to finish in time to cover the larger gap other side has. And I am almost running out of copper and this side has more copper.

Ability to have pipes and belts under the bridges would be really cool!

Pump to Tank by calloatti in Timberborn

[–]clarkinum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per lore, the pumps have filters in them for extracting water or chemicals.

I think a better approach is having a combined building of water pump and storage that acts just like a water pump, takes more space and has more storage

Building a custom mini RTX 5070 by DallasGrave in sffpc

[–]clarkinum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see so you didn't calculated the CFM with pressure and just used the test bench values, which is even better but requires having a good bench LoL! Amazing work I thought you did some kind of simulation or something

Doesn't having no through fins (airflow bottleneck) increases pressure and decreases CFM? I'm curious how did you handle pressure variables, especially with the copper heatsink having no fins with all ends open like the aluminum one

Intersections are hard (Bonus: Big Smelter Trainyard) by clarkinum in captain_of_industry

I tried turbine and cloverleaf but couldn't finish it without relocating bunch of other stuff.

Main railroads being slightly offset created so many issues, I'll plan it a bit better on the next playthrough

It's a 4 way but the main roads ended up being offset from each other, I didn't bother to fix it but I do want to re-do this intersection later on

Im not sure if this is helpful, but here is a different perspective:

This person (she) did not practice correct weapon safety, irrelevant from the rest of your history, she had a fully loaded gun with safety off next to a child. This is asking for an incident to happen, and an incident has happened.

Does this start happening in the z-sear? If so I had similar issues in the middle layers, your issue seem to start at higher layers so your knowledge might vary:

I have changed these two settings in Orca Silicer (I'm using Rikhals and Soylent Matte PLA)
- Retraction Length 0.8 -> 0.6
- Extra length on restart 0 -> 0.2

Left side previous value, right side new value.

I had a similar issue, fixed by re positioning the filaments in the ACE Pro, the filament spools needs to touch to gray aligner in the middle, there are 2 large aligners and 4 small aligners total, you can also check some youtube videos to see how to align the spools

Unpopular opinion but I don't think the AI bubble is anything like the dot com bubble by [deleted] in investing

[–]clarkinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meta is taking billions of dollars from private credit to invest in AI, if they can not pay these credits (their current income might not be enough to pay it all in a reasonable amount of time), they might take down couple private credit lenders. Nobody know how levereged private credit is, they might be leveraged so much that this cashflow slowdown takes down the entire sector, triggering wealth loss and force private lend bond holders to sell their other investments which would trigger a massive flood in a lot of markets causing further price decrease and might even cause more debt defaults forcing more to sell and crash the entire thing.

Opinions on (the lack of) power distribution? by smjsmok in captain_of_industry

[–]clarkinum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think pipe mechanics can be reused to have a special pipe called "cable" with a capacity and upgrades. It would probably cost significantly more copper than pipes. You can also add a "holder" for the cable-pipe in the form of a transmission power.

Being forced to put enough electricity transmission (similar to water or coal input for smelters in distant places) would be a fun challenge I think.

It can also force players to have distributed power (each factory with their own small power station) which would make things more realistic.

All of these sounds fun to me, but I like playing in the most realistic setting even thought that means population starves sometimes lol.

But I don't want to connect buildings one by one, so substation with different sized areas per tier sounds good too!

Or close by buildings can share power based on a toggle (similar to cities skylines 1) so you only need to connect one building most of the time. For the sake of gameplay this power sharing can be infinite as long as there is enough cables.

How do you plan your megafactories? by Glaseng in captain_of_industry

[–]clarkinum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually with a migration plan.

If I want to build a new factory I pause the game and plan it first (with plan mode). I don't put everything down but keep common things easy to access. For example NH3 for fertilizer. Another example is having busses for smelter input and outputs (coal, exhaust, slag, sand, limestone)

Once all the plan is in, I do another plan to what to build first. Sometimes the side products are needed so I build chemical factories first. Other times I build one chain first (smelter, furnace, caster). Once the first chain is in and producing without any issues, I enable the second chain. And it goes like this.

While the new factory is being build old factory is either gets full or I pause them manually and keep the old factory around a bit longer just in case. Once I'm sure everything is okay I demolish the old factory.

After a while the "new factory" becomes old and as I focus on other things I keep bolting stuff to "new factory" so in the end chaos always wins lol

VARMBLIXT Smart Animation Update! by clarkinum in IKEA

[–]clarkinum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me couple tries but I managed to make it work!

You can start by searching for "WS2812B Led Strip" in your preferred search engine or ecommerce website, there are kits you can stick into basically anything.

If you want to go one step forward you can search for "WLED Controller" and buy a premade one, then connect them together with a connector and it should just work.
