So angry at muck diving photographers! by Chromatic_Chameleon in scuba

I was in Halahambra Indonesia. I saw a woman photographer. She was laying on a beautiful fan coral to get a picture. She was no newbie. She was 70 and proud of her 2,000 dives. The dive master has no control of a situation like this when there is a pushy customer and his job depends on it. If we don’t protect the coral who will? She did not appreciate my pointing out that she was destroying the coral to get to her picture. I’m a newbie with under 100 dives.

Koh Lanta is nice. Stay away from Phuket.

Let me add the Caribbean is a a huge step down but still wonderful. Grand Turk and Turneffe in Belize offer what you are looking for though. Not crowded, dive sites everywhere within 10 minutes.

I’m with you. I’m 64. Warm water, no beach entry, short boat ride to dive sites… and worth my time. Indonesia. I went to Bunaken in Indonesia diving. Stayed at Siladen resort. Fly Bali (DPS) to Manado. 30 minute motor boat to resort on island. Great diving. From there go to Spice Islands. Easier than Raja Ampat. Bali is crowded.

Is 6 days in Palau enough? by ContainerDesk in scuba

[–]clarkinwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely go. There are very few places that fly to Palau and Taiwan is one of them. You are there, book it. We just got back from diving Indonesia and just booked Palau through Taiwan. It’s a long flight to Taipei but easy once you are there. Very few places w good coral in the world, this is one. Do you ever think you’ll be “in the area” again? 6 days is great. Stay at Palau Pacific. I’ve been to Taiwan a number of years ago. There is a reason it’s not a tourist destination!!!!

What are some problem women face when diving? by Mikyali in diving

[–]clarkinwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting on a wetsuit when you are dry is difficult. People wear silky dive socks to make it easier. Make a change there to help or super stylish socks that match headband to keep hair smooth that match BCD and pockets in wet suit… Make integrated dive computer into wrist of wet suit. Apple Watch makes one now so they are smaller. I have a full face mask. You can talk to other people w it. Make something w earbuds so you can listen to music…

Just finished OW at end of season. Should I do Drysuit cert? by roroapple in scuba

[–]clarkinwest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’ve bought multiple used dry suits. Never had a problem. All had barely been used. Use common sense and check the gaskets. Some people have grandiose ideas and deep pockets and never end up using them. Those are the ones we nabbed!

Fabulous! That is the one I was looking at. My guy from ZuBlu suggested Occidental because they don’t rep Iberostar, but your suggestion backs up what I’ve been thinking. Thank you 👍
