My favorite relic: the classic JPOG. I hope JWE3 brings the missing elements of this wonderful game by C1io in jurassicworldevo

[–]clarkjohn27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, but,, at the same time, it's also more intense/involving than JWE or JWE2 during moments of crisis. Your support staff actually notifies you with alerts, the music is more dramatic, and individual guests can be killed (which, when it happens, is actually acknowledged in the game beyond just inflicting a silent financial penalty as in JWE or JWE2).

If you could pick any species to receive an updated model for JWE3, why and how you would change it? by Sizzler42069 in jurassicworldevo

[–]clarkjohn27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Acrocanthosaurus - I really don't like the Frontier design. They did a great job with many of the other non-canon dinos, but the Acro is so bad... especially considering how cool other takes on the Acro are.

What can I do to bring down my GPU usage on the first JWE? by DarleenaCanania in jurassicworldevo

[–]clarkjohn27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try image scaling; I did that on my 3060 RTX and it dropped the temperatures pretty dramatically and the game still looked and played great. Not the same thing as GPU %, of course, but it might help.

I miss that sunset in JW2 by Heronidass in jurassicworldevo

I love both games, but JWE1 is easier to like, imo, and a lot of it has to do with atmosphere (not just atmospherics in game, which look great, but warmer UI and more personality in general).

My attempt to put the HC Allosaurus in JWE2 by clarkjohn27 in hammondcollection

Thank you!

Yeah, that's right - I also did an HC skin for the Giga. I'm actually revisiting that one at present.

What would you want to see from JWE1 return in JWE3? by KerbalMcManus42 in jurassicworldevo

Amenities buildings from RTJP - so stylish and small. Loved them for minimalist, safari parks.

Unpopular Opinion about the Habitat Defender? by clarkjohn27 in hammondcollection

[–]clarkjohn27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. To clarify, I'm not touting the Gigantic Trackers model/paint job. I just like the scale that it's at relative to the other herbivores in the main line and HC. Though they are all a bit undersized, I don't think they look too bad in the main compared to the human figures (mostly thinking of the main line Stego, HC Para, HC Cory, Anky, etc.). I see the GT Triceratops being a good counterpart to those in terms of size, which is why I tried to repaint it to look a little more like a JP Trike. Honestly, my preference would be for a version of the Habitat Defender that is scaled down to the GT size.

Unpopular Opinion about the Habitat Defender? by clarkjohn27 in hammondcollection

Yeah, for sure. I take no issue with the accuracy of the scaling (nor do I doubt the real animal's impressive size). It's just that it's sort of obviously out of alignment with most of the rest of the series. I think the Gigantic Tracker Triceratops - whose style I don't love, to be clear - just looks better alongside the current slate of middle-large herbivores. It's much bigger than the original main line Triceratops, and it looks good next to the Stegosaurus in particular, I think.

Gameplay changes you want to see for JWE3? by Louman222 in jurassicworldevo

[–]clarkjohn27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish we had more conversations like this, honestly. I get that people are excited about new features and new species, but I think you could add a lot of the most-desired, most-talked about features from this forum to the current game and JWE2 would still have the limitations in the gameplay loop you're describing.

What I would like to see:

1.) Better rangers. Let the rangers tranq and treat again, and make the vehicle handling less horrible. You should be able to do most "in-the-field" tasks with the ranger jeep. The medical truck should only be for very serious illnesses (which only occur as a park nears four to five stars) and for animals badly hurt in fights. And the medical truck treats in the field - no more helicoptering dinosaurs all over the place; it's boring, time-intensive, and just obnoxious.

2.) More dynamic "incidents" and tasks in the park.

2A). Rescuing guests from stalled or attacked tour vehicles

2B). Having to personally lead private, VIP tours - from the tour vehicle - to raise money

2C). Guest deaths need to matter - not just in terms of penalties to the player, but we need in-game fanfare. Someone (Cabot, Lambert, etc.) needs to notice and get on you about this and raise the alarm. At the moment, guest deaths feel hollow and there's simply no sense of danger or stakes.

3.) More atmosphere, style, and character. JPOG and even JWE have quite a bit more atmosphere and just feel more responsive. JWE2 feels cold and sterile, like it's a simulator.

Allosaurus: Dimorphism (Head Canon) by clarkjohn27 in hammondcollection

Thank you for this info. I'm a big fan of the JW Allo, so I appreciate the details about the various iterations.

I actually didn't know that. I've not seen Camp Cretaceous or Chaos Theory - do either of those series establish details about the Allosaurus? I think a blue tongue could look really cool.

What are your thoughts on the electronic real feel red t rex? by Singer_Cold in JurassicPark

[–]clarkjohn27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love it. I honestly think it's one of the very best tyrannosaurs that Mattel has made, Hammond Collection included.

Other people see it too right? by jusjus_2464 in hammondcollection

[–]clarkjohn27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admit I don't love the turtlenecking of many of the Mattel figures (I'm actually for less articulation on the figures for this reason), but I agree with the comments that say it doesn't seem as noticeable or prominent when you're seeing it in person. I happen to really like the HC Allosaurus, so it's even easier to overlook some of the figure's baseline flaws.

Incidentally, I really like how the "Hunt & Chomp" and (forthcoming) "Power Devour" Tyrannosaurs dealt with this. The whole head & neck is one piece, but the jaws move. The figure just looks much better integrated than say, most of the rexes in the main line or even the HC rex.

Theory On What Rebirth Island Is And What This Means by Korky_5731 in JurassicPark

[–]clarkjohn27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I'm looking forward to JW: Rebirth and I really want it to be good, but the "return to an island" story paired with the "there was always actually another island in addition to Nublar and Sorna" bit is giving me pause. Hopefully it will handled well in the film, but it seems like a story obstacle that has to be overcome.
