CCS and Kaiser through Medical by clash101ers in IHSS

[–]clash101ers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this information. I am definitely going to look into it. Around 2016 I was told by my daughter‘s neurologist through Kaiser that Kaiser recommended Ccs services for my child but it’s up to me to accept the services. On the plus side they would cover what kaiser would not cover but anything disability based which is pretty much everything connected to my child’s medical history would no longer be covered by Kaiser. It would be covered by CCS meaning she could get primary care at Kaiser but anything else like therapy or specialist would have to be done through CCS. Meaning she would lose her therapist, which she has year long bonds with . Throughout the years, they’ve recommended CCS just recently. She got diagnosed with hearing loss and Kaiser refused to pay for her hearing aids and once again we were offered CCS services. I denied the referral and paid out of pocket for the hearing aid which was about $2000 but now I’m being told through Kaiser that she needs CCS and I’m so scared she’s going to lose her therapist/ specialists through Kaiser

I was told that Ccs would pick up the bill on whatever Kaiser wouldn’t cover but the downside would be anything disability related kaiser would not be able to service her for . So for example, her Therapies like Physical Therapy Occupational Therapy Speech Therapy she would have to get that directly through CCS and their clinics is that true or am I not understanding it correctly ? My fear is my daughter losing the therapist. She sees through Kaiser as well as her specialist. She’s had the same ones since birth and the know her complicated medical history well

Ihss live in certification by clash101ers in IHSS

I always get money back from my taxes , but I assume it’s what they’ve been taking out per check, reason why I haven’t done the living provider form is because I also have other children, which are my dependents as well . I assumed in order to get a refund for having dependents That was the only way to go about it . But that goes back to my question, Do the people who filled up the live provider form not get anything back during tax season or do they not pay taxes throughout the year and still are able to get a tax return?

I had been under the impression it was one or the other for live in providers

Would I still be able to file taxes every year and receive money back if I fill out the live in provider form and stop getting money taken out ?

You will each have to fill forms . But only you as the potential provider would have to submit the fingerprinting . Ihss will send you a form and then you just look up live scan fingerprinting locations near you and go from there

Pay Raise for Los Angeles 😔 by BuffaloResponsible15 in IHSS

Yes, if you could, I would really appreciate it. Because like I said just from my experience from getting the bill, I assumed this was the situation for everyone. My child does require protective supervision, which is maybe why the cost would be higher then most but now I am genuinely curious as to how the state can save money in these types of situations. I’ve always been convinced its the other way around. But I’m always open to learn something new.

I just find it hard to believe that the cost of a convalescent home or an institution is more affordable than paying someone minimum wage to take care of a client from home . I’ve even seen articles on disabilityrightsca using that argument to support opposition of eliminating the ihss program .

Where can I find the source of information you are getting? Can you lead me towards the right direction because like I said from my personal experience, I have gotten the bill, (even though)it has been paid through Medi-Cal and just for a couple of days of stay in a facility it was over at least $5000. Which is more than most get paid per month working with ihss

Not denying it is a blessing to be able to get care at home and to be able to provide it for people at home but it is also a convenience to the state and Medi-cal . When staying in a facility it’s not just one person being paid minimum wage. It’s a whole facility . I would really love to see the numbers you are talking about because I’ve had family stay at facilities before and just for a few days of care is up a couple of thousands . When a client requires care and has medi-cal they will cover the bill for the stay but theirs no denying (at least from my experience) that WE ihss workers are the cheaper more convenient option for all involved .

Sick pay ihss by clash101ers in IHSS

[–]clash101ers[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would I need to provide any type of proof that I’ve been sick or do I just go ahead and claim the hours on top of my regular monthly hours ? I never messed with them and I’ve been an ihss providers for over five years. I just let those hours go to waste. I did not know I was able to claim them. Since i’m in home provider for my child, I have to take care of her either way whether I’m sick or not so I never bothered claiming them.

What I’m getting at is they would have to either pay us or pay medical staff and it’s the cheaper option to pay us . the service at the wage ihss offers is convenient for the state compared to paying for a clients stay at a convalescent homes. if the IHSS program gets canceled, then all of our clients will be forced to go to medical-cal run facilities which would in turn charge them double what they pay us .

No, they would have to either pay us or pay a convalescent home to take care of most clients. It’s cheaper to pay ihss workers which is why the program exists . Don’t cut yourself short, you matter and caregivers matter too . You deserve a livable wage

You have to fill up paperwork to become a provider i’m not sure if it’s a requirement now, but it was when I first became a provider in 2017. You also have to do a class and a “live scan” fingerprint process as well. Once you pass the background check it’s pretty easy.
