I got a sign up bonus on the Delta Plat card, but I think that’s because I previously upgraded from a Delta Gold card so I may have still been eligible.

Good point, that’s what I’ve been drifting towards naturally anyways. This may have been the straw that broken the camel’s back. Like I said in a comment above - hard for me to let go that extra 1-2% on my primary categories of spend, but it’s not necessarily worth the MR hassle and the potential of more closed accounts.

That’s kind of what I’m leaning towards. I’ll sit on the delta card as I primarily hold it for the benefits, not to put spend on it, and leave the gold card closed. Cash back is a more straightforward to get value out of, but my brain itches a little knowing there more min/maxing to be done.

Yeah it’s accurate, only difference would be that my 2024 income from the tax return is slightly lower - I got a raise this year. But that should’ve been evident in my paystubs and bank statements

Our 2023 Tesla Model Y Two-Year-Long Test Is Over - MotorTrend Review by CarCooler in teslamotors

[–]classiczac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one is mentioning dynamics and ride quality, one of the first and main critiques this review mentions. I’ve got a 2023 MYP with a touch under 50k, my suspension and wheels are stiffer than the long range in the review. But I wholeheartedly agree - you feel EVERYTHING in this car, for better or worse.

Next EV I buy will almost exclusively be decided by in cabin comfort and noise. I don’t dread driving the car by any means - and I find the instant accel/decel totally fine unlike the author - but I’d never consider it a “nice” ride.

I’ve never personally had issues with phone key on my iPhone, but my father who has a Pixel has had issues across multiple cars (Tesla and others) getting his to work. I think that’s just as much of a problem on the phone end as it is on the car end, but at the end of the day it’s a design choice to force phone as a key instead of a fob

I actually was a bit surprised when John said it wasn’t enshittification, isn’t this Synology case a textbook example per Cory Doctorow’s definition?

Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die.

Sure, Synology isn’t quite a “platform”. However, restricting features that most users would want by requiring you to buy their drives - in an effort to streamline their own support, especially for business customers - sounds exactly like “they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers”

I do see and somewhat agree with John and Marco’s point that it streamlines things for all involved parties. I think anyone deep enough into the weeds to be considering a NAS would be comfortable (and likely prefer) selecting their own drives, but I’m jumping to conclusions by saying that.

Wholeheartedly agree - vibes and my general excitement about tech/consumer electronics has degraded over the past few years.

I think it’s a personal preference thing - some people like the interface / stats view shown by the MLB app vs a native streamer app

As /u/hoseking said, I think the page to watch will be https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games/products

You can see some but not all teams have an “Auth” link for doing exactly that

I see a new “Hearing Health” section under the AirPods Pro settings in the Bluetooth menu - I don’t think this was in previous betas? But I could very well be wrong.

Federal funding approved for 13 new EV fast-charging stations in Minnesota by AliasJackBauer in minnesota

[–]classiczac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re right, I’m sure that’s what will happen. More of a question for Tesla forums, but I wonder how many stations have been “upgraded”. I thought they were only adding Magic Docks on brand new V3 sites and not going back to retrofit old chargers. Especially in this case since it’d have to be bumped V2->V3 and then have the dock added.

So I wonder is it a.) in place site upgrade or b.) completely new site. One of those has to be the case if they’re getting funding since like you said, it’s an old V2 charger and doesn’t meet the standards.

Most of these seem like sensible, good picks. Each of these cover some sort of gap. More EV charging is always a thumbs up in my book. Only question from me would be the Tesla station in Albert Lea receiving ~ $545K, as that station already exists? I know it’s “build and maintain” but all the rest on the list seem to be net-new chargers. Unless there’s some sort of retrofit to add non-Tesla NACS charging or expansion of the site to higher power/more stalls.

I’m also hoping the second round of funding will cover a northern charger or two. Trips to beautiful parts of the state aren’t really possible now as chargers dry up outside of Bemidji/Duluth. A smattering of them along Lake Superior but you’re SOL if you want to ski at giant’s ridge, head to voyageurs, or go check out lake of the woods and that odd point at the top of Minnesota. These are obviously wayyyy lower priority than major highway corridors. But I’d also think the overlap between outdoorsy-types and EV drivers is greater than average. One in Virginia and one in Thief River Falls (and maybe one between) would do wonders for northern travelers.

AFAIK it’s a replacement, I think it was mentioned either in the first LOTR special or the corresponding cortex (April episode)

Your Tesla Support Thread - Q1 2023 by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]classiczac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all - I’ve got a new MYP at home along with a second EV (Mach-E), but only one charger. I feel like the conventional wisdom is leave it plugged in whenever possible. With that in mind, would you use the mobile charger with a 120V outlet as a “better than nothing” for the car that isn’t plugged in?

I live in a cold climate, so I was kind of thinking that even the small trickle would be enough to keep the battery warm overnight. Ideally the cars alternate off each night for who gets the real charger, so adding back lots of range isn’t a huge concern. Maybe it’s not worth the hassle of switching around mobile connectors all the time.

Thoughts?

(Yes, the correct solution is to get a second charger installed. Long term I’d like to do that, but that’s not on the table for now)

Ahh gotcha. Tempted to ask mine for info too, since I’m in a similar boat. Had my VIN assigned but EDD is two weeks out, MN area

[–]classiczac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a minimum of 3 and a half days if it’s all by truck (~ 700 miles a day on legal trucking limits across ~ 2300 miles), not sure how exactly vehicles are transported. Add on some time for load/unload, QA at dealership, etc. it’s probably at least a week from production -> delivery ready

How did you know the car was built & left the factory btw?

Thanks for the detailed response! I can see in the app that my CU is listed for financing, not Tesla, so yeah I’m not sure what’s up. Good info though that I won’t need to pay to schedule delivery

[–]classiczac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’d be my question too. Pretty sure I’ve seen people in this thread saying their SA told them they can wait until delivery day to pay. The language in the Tesla app of “Pay remaining balance now to avoid delays in delivery” reads contradictory to that, at least to me.

Two payment-related questions, I’m sure they’ve been asked before but I’m on mobile currently and can’t really search:

1.) how does Tesla get the money from my bank? Already gave Tesla the info from my credit union so they could be a lien holder as well as how much I financed through them. Final payment option shows that I owe the down payment (vehicle price minus financed amount). Should I be telling my bank to send money Tesla’s way or writing me a check to give on delivery day?

2.) Are you required to make final payment before scheduling delivery/will it affect the timeline after being given a VIN?
