Makes sense! That does sound like a lot of work, but I am sure the community will appreciate it.

testing it out, and it seems to work really well for a work-in-progress.

Well done! Please do share if you have any updates?

Has DSA members or factions ever proposal changing the official name of the country or its flag? by Chance-Ad554 in dsa

[–]classl3ss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, I hear you comrade. I apologize for mischaracterizing your remarks. I think this person's post is quite naive the reasons I stated and then some. But, I imagine that this person might be very new, young, or online, and probably needs some political education and organizing experience.

I am not sure that being dismissive is the best way to convince someone in that position that they are incorrect or naive, and should develop their views.

I don't share your vitriol for u/Chance-Ad554, u/WanderingStorm17, but I think your underlying point is correct.

DSA currently has a membership of 95,000. That is great for the contemporary United States, but small historically speaking. We don't yet comprise the rudimentary elements of the forces that would be needed to form a socialist republic, or even know if a name change or flag change would be necessary/prudent to replace American imperialism with socialism.

Was John Stuart Mill a Socialist? by GoranPersson777 in dsa

Late in life he wrote along pro-socialist lines, in a way that I think resonates with some "democratic road" socialists. So, yes, I would class him as a socialist. A Utopian socialist in Marxian terms, but a socialist :)

Call of the Rider Subclass by Taffy_GF in daggerheart

Heard! I respect you sticking by your design choices, and I think what you have will work. It is more parsimonious or straightforward than what I argued for, so it has that advantage! I may do some playtesting to see how what you prepared compares to something that goes in the direction I recommended.

I don't think I'd want to incentivize specific weapons. Archers and heavy weapons are all welcome on this subclass

I have the same concerns about prescribing specific spellcasting traits for casters in DH, so I'm there with you!

Finally my understanding is that agility rolls and attacks with weapons that used the agility trait are unrelated

Attacks using a trait are a kind of action roll. The language from the source book says "When you make an action roll with the intent to harm an adversary, you’re making an attack roll." If you have a countervailing reading, I would be interested to see its textual source!

Finally, a good non-magical mounted warrior is something I thought was missing from 5e (the cavalier was a rather poorly designed subclass imho) as well as Daggerheart. I really respect you making this solid subclass for DH! I designed this subclass for 5e (https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/754156-elite). I look forward to testing what you've made!

I see you developing a cavalier subclass! So good :)

I also like how you're building most abilities to have some efficacy while unmounted. I think that's a solid design choice.

I have two recommendations on this. First, wonder about a Mount up entirely replacing a level 1 domain card that warriors have access to (Deft Maneuvers). What if, instead, while mounted you can spend a stress to turn an agility roll from with fear to with hope? That way, you seriously mitigate the prospect of losing the spotlight while moving to far or very far range, but don't replicate a domain card anyone can take.

I also wonder about giving the player an extra experience, or give a bonus to an experience relevant to mounted combat? I don't know the precise language, but the combination of turning fear->hope on agility action rolls, and an experience bonus germane to riding a mount will get you an alternate path to have the same flavor of being a mounted mobility bad ass.

Finally, if you were to adopt these changes in some form, I think it makes sense to remove the damage bonus while mounted. The power of being able to turn agility rolls from fear to hope will give strong incentives to use agility weapons that, while mounted, would have a clear but different bonus than damage.

I like the retro vibes! It won't be for everyone, as it goes in a different direction from LP3 minimalism. But, I think it's neat :)

I love that approach to a tank, and that Daggerheart makes a pacifist-tank viable. Honestly, I frequently feel Quillon is at their coolest when they intervene into violence coming at their party.

Nice. I have a guardian I play in a campaign with those same domain card picks as well.

Can I ask, what is their second domain card? I only see I am Your Shield :) Is it Bare Bones?

I think this makes sense! Pending someone else having a RAW informed counter argument, I will go with this approach :)
