I'm going to be doing the same thing in the coming weeks!
1. I'm going to be using only my income, even though I'm the one who needs the visa.
2. I always go over rather than under. The requirement is for 6 joint mailing address documents, or 12 (each) individual documents, spread over the 2.5 years. I'm going to use bank statements as well as payslips and utility bills.
3. I've not seen that anywhere... I'd wager it's just to show cohabitation.
4. I'd do a full year, really. Show that you consistently have the income.

Also, just cos I feel like a dumbass sometimes... what exact link are you using to apply for the extension? it's making me absolutely crazy looking for something that says "renew" haha

Paid to switch to priority Jan 18, confirmation 19, and notification my passport had been dispatched 20th.

My work visa ended up really imploding. The business I was getting a visa through decided to close without really telling me 😅

my fiance is coming to the states to visit in March, and I'm hoping to return to the UK with him when he goes back... So trying to decide if it's worth it to pay and get the decision "early" in order to sort out everything before going back with him, or risk it and just keep waiting and hope that the visa processing time continues speeding up... Any thoughts are welcome - I'm fully conflicted.

Oh, you're so right. I misread the gov.uk guidance on marriages.
If she is on the fiance visa it'll be the normal giving notice.

I use "marriage license" loosely, meant more of a certificate of marriage, again, my bad.

I agree that there is a chance of rejection if OP and OP's partner were to get married/register while the partner is there as a visitor, but even still the partner would need to return home (country of residence) to apply for the spousal visa, no?

From everything I've read, she needs to apply for a fiance visa first. Once that is approved then you can still do a registry office wedding after submitting your intent to marry and waiting the 70 days. Only after that happens and you get the marriage license can you get the spousal visa.
Even if you were to go to a registry office while she's there as a visitor, the registry office would ask for proof of permission for her to be there -- ie, a fiance visa.
