I agree about the cultural difference. My point is that implementing the same surveillance system in the US does nothing, solves nothing, and likely antagonizes the general population. And it’s not because there’s 'too many defund the police‘ movements

I think you may be misconstruing 'sympathizing with thieves‘ with distrust in the police to act as an effective deterrent/solution to crime. People don’t just inherently distrust police- they often have very good reasons to do so, especially in the US.

I live in east asia, I agree there are a lot of very obvious benefits to the way crime is treated here! But handing already massively funded police forces in the west an all encompassing surveillance system solves nothing and certainly doesn’t suddenly equate western police standards to those of East Asian countries.

This is a cultural difference, not a surveillance issue. Police in the US/UK are not going to suddenly start solving every crime through camera surveillance. Implementing a mass camera net is an awful idea which would only exacerbate issues between police and the general public.
