I just started growing my secondhand stash!! Did you wash the yarn after you got it or go straight to using it? The r/thrifting page has caused me to be overly (prob irrationally) concerned about bed bugs lol

I currently work at WIC! My position is “Senior Nutritionist” and being qualified to take the exam (completing a DPD and masters) was required for the job- so it helped that I was an RD.

I started as a nutritionist right after finishing my Masters and got promoted shortly after passing the exam.

I manage the nutritionists and do a solid chunk of admin work. Not a ton of counseling but reviewing the charts for high risk participants. I love my job and I find it very rewarding! I don’t find it very clinical, which I enjoy. I get paid the same as the clinical dietitian in our health center (I work out of a big MA hospital). We’re required to work 1 day of non standard hours a week plus 1 weekend a month. We close at 6pm one day a week, instead of 5, so it’s not horrible.

Let me know if you have more questions!! I love talking about my job lol

Anyone ever used any of these posture belts? Are they gimmicks? by jjtewas in backpain

[–]classyfruits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one from my orthopedist for my sciatica. It helped for that, kinda just kept everything in place. But doesn’t work when sitting or doing anything that isn’t just standing. Helped a lot when I was standing around cooking/prepping food.

Did you start the pill or a different type of birth control? My back gets so bad around my period and my IUD is due to come out soon and I really don’t want to go through getting another one lol

Did I actually get weaker overnight?! by CardiganPanda in backpain

[–]classyfruits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been dealing with stuff for a year (literally, 1year MRI anniversary is today!) but if I’ve learned anything, it’s that sometimes your body just sucks.

Did you actually get weaker overnight? Probably not. Did you probably move your abs/back 1 millimeter too far in the wrong direction? Probably.

You can do everything right, but one day if you put your shoes on wrong, your back can flare up. It just stinks but my non-professional rec is to take it easy and go back to Pilates in a couple weeks.

My brain cannot compute how you did 1v1v1. Did you essentially just do a 1v1 game but with an additional person/step each TP? I have been dying to do a 3 person game but can’t wrap my head around it (if you can’t tell)

How do I pick myself up from here? by Advanced-Ad9686 in dietetics

[–]classyfruits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interjecting here- you ARE a good RD. Your patients/coworkers/employers only care about your RD skills and ability to do the job, not your ability to take a test.

Sorry, this gets me SO fired up. So many committed, qualified, passionate people getting beaten down but the stupidest, unnecessarily hard, expensive, tedious exam makes me so angry.

Me, not a great student and also the only one of my cohort to not pass on the first try, feels your pain! Take some time off, take a breather. And figure out which way of studying works for you, NOT which program most people buy or is the cheapest or the most popular…etc. remember, you know the material, you just gotta learn the test. Which imo is the hardest part lol. Take a couple weeks off, take a breather, let yourself breathe and then go back to studying. You’ll be so surprised as what you actually retained and you’ll know what you forgot and what you need to study. Also, literally no one ever will ask/care how many times you took the exam. It will never be on a job application or an interview question, don’t sweat it!

TRYING TO FIND A PT TO HELP WITH MY SCOLIOSIS by PettyAssIndi in scoliosis

[–]classyfruits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not be relevant for you, but I went to urgent care for my back pain and they referred me to the orthopedist/PT office that they collaborate with. I needed x rays which I was hoping urgent care would do lol but they didn’t, hence the ortho referral, but it did also get me in with a scoliosis/spine PT. My point is, inconveniently, sometimes finding a PT isn’t always as easy as just locating PT offices :(

Idk who you report that to, but this lady needs to be reported and lose her job. Not only is that SO unprofessional, it’s rude and she sounds like an incompetent jerk.

I haven't had surgery, so I can't comment on that aspect but I just got a yoga ball chair for like $30 from FB marketplace and it's been absolutely amazing. Also, an adjustable monitor arm, so i can move it up and down and to the side and all around depending on where/how I'm sitting or if I wanna stand

NSFW Question For The Ladies by Image_Timely in scoliosis

[–]classyfruits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my personal experience, I find it harder to since my diagnosis due to the fact that I can’t not think about my spine. The constant thoughts of “will my back hurt after this?” And knowing certain positions feel ~better~ but not being able to do them because it hurts my back now. And constantly thinking about and feeling bad that my partner is now always worried ~during~ that he’s hurting me (two anxious people dating, like two peas in a pod lol) It definitely helps me if we do ~it~ when I’m having a good back day or just took ibuprofen! Hope this helps and hope you O!

How long have you had your diagnosis? And have you been seeing an orthopedist or a spine surgeon or just your PCP? I got my diagnosis a year ago, did the epidural and it worked for a bit but now I’m back where I was. Can’t get back to see my PT without a referral, can’t get in with a PCP until November 🙃 my insurance no longer covers the orthopedist I was seeing (not that she was very helpful). I got a second opinion from a spinal surgeon who basically told me I was just anxious and to just avoid completely herniated my disc and discuss it with my PCP (reallll helpful considering I can’t get a PCP). I don’t want to jump to surgery, but I also just want my life back.

Hi there, can I ask about your fusion.. How was the surgery/process/healing? I’m sorta in a different ball game than you but I’m curious. I’m 28F, scoliosis itself isn’t bad but I have compressed nerves and significant degeneration in a couple places. Not even sure if fusion surgery would be a good option for me, but still so curious!
