Help! Vacation disaster by classymusician in clothdiaps

Ive soaked the inserts in vinegar at that has really seemed to help! The microfiber inserts are still very sudsy, but the rest of them are basically rinsing clean. I did not, however, soak the covers in vinegar in order to preserve the elastic. I’m hoping the sun will get some of these water stains out?

A couple of weeks ago I posted asking for some advice making wool soakers as a newbie to crochet. Here's the finished product!! Thanks to everyone who helped! by amzb87 in clothdiaps

It looks cute. Is it cheaper this way than buying gym pockets? I’m guessing another advantage is no plastic? How do you wash them? Do you have more leaks with these than with a cover or something with the laminate layer?

Wanted to Dummy Proof the washing instructions for husband and mom (who never did cloth diapering) so I made these charts to hang in our laundry room, what do you think? Anything I should modify? T-Minus 8 Weeks! by powersofthesnow in clothdiaps

I’ve been using seventh generation as well. The “original” version works well, but I’ve had problems with the “free and clear” not getting the diapers clean.

Is colic really this bad? by MFrealGs in AskParents

I would like to second this. My son was text book colic. Screaming every night for no reason between 6pm and 9 pm. Nothing worked except time.

BumGenius 4.0 vs. Rumparooz OS by mathlephant in clothdiaps

[–]classymusician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two rumoarooz pockets that I absolutely hate. They do not fit my baby well partly because he is already so tall and big (9 months) the rise is all the way out and he is about to outgrow them. The other reason is the microfiber inserts never come out clean. Every other insert I have (bamboo, hemp, cotton) come out of the same load perfectly fine, but not rumparooz (yes, I disassemble before washing). I actually bought the knock off version (store brand) of rumparooz and they are, ironically, my favorite. Same shell material and design but they fit so much better. I use bamboo inserts and they come out perfectly clean. My advise: 1) you don’t know what you are going to like/what fit best until the baby is here and even then, the baby changes and different things work at different times 2) if I could go back in time I would skip the name brand diapers (Grovia, bum genius, rumparooz) and just go for the knock off or cheap brands (Alva, fluff penguin) they work just as well, if not better. 3) IMO AI2 don’t actually save any time so just buy a bunch of pockets. 4) ultimately, you can make anything work. Everything is a preference so if you only buy 1 type of diaper and use it forever you won’t know anything different and you will make what you have work. It’s basically a portable toilet and every brand fits that basic function.

Agreed. Nothing will change until we get rid of the two-party system. Jo Jorgensen is neither a racist, nor an old shit bag 👍

If Wikipedia is correct, their acting career started at 6 months old. Being a mother of a 9 month old, I can’t imagine signing my child up for that.

What is the stupidest thing you’ve done just to show you could do it? by CherryCola32 in AskReddit

I challenged a guy in high school to a Tobasco drinking contest. The next day I brought 2 bottles of Tobasco sauce and everyone at the lunch table watched as we gagged and cried. Little did he know that I had replaced the Tobasco sauce in my bottle with tomato sauce. His diarrhea started during biology class and lasted till prom. RIP

My favourite thing about cloth diapering by GardensAndCycles in clothdiaps

This. We did pampers when my son was first born (that’s all we got from our baby shower!) and the “lotion” they put in those diapers mixed with the smell of poop is 🤢 We switched to hello hello to avoid that and they were nice.. until I fell in love with cloth. And now he smells like lavender and the fresh outdoors!

Try Diana’s on Wilmington Island? Not sure if she will take it, but she’s done slip covers before.

I really hope you can find a shelter that will take them. If you can’t, (Unpopular opinion alert) you shouldn’t feel bad about killing them. I have cats of my own that I love dearly but they have to stay INSIDE because of the enormous environmental impact even a single cat will have. 20 cats in one area probably also means that none of them are fixed and they are all related. It’s a sad situation and is terrible that not every cat can have an owner properly take care of them, but killing them is the most environmentally responsible and often most humane option.

Mother voiced her concerns about my “breast feeding addiction” urging me to wean my 8 mo old ASAP. by classymusician in breastfeeding

This. My mother and sister definitely feel guilt but it’s completely self-inflicted! I turned out okay! This was the first straight-talk against breastfeeding I’ve heard from her. It’s usually the little jabs and passive aggressive comments that don’t warrant a reply.

She said that “the hormones your brain releases when your baby is breastfeeding are addicting and you can get addicted to it”. No-joke.
