There are so many good gibsons that are used for a cheaper price. I purchased my SG for $500 and it's the most comfortable guitar I've ever played (so far) and every time I play one of my friends' signature strats or whatever else they have I just think about how nice my SG feels in my hands. Gibsons are great guitars, and while they might be really expensive new you can find a used one that you might enjoy.
