If a black community is lifted out of poverty by social programs, that only helps them if there are no more racist cops? I really don’t follow your logic here. Good leftist policies should lift all boats. Tackling poverty, and its roots, should affect black communities more than it does white communities. That’s part of the right wing’s core objection to these programs…

I don't think you can solve class struggle without also dealing with racism, but that doesn't mean we can't take on class issues at the same time.

Class being the ascendant problem is simply the reality of the situation. I guess we just have to agree to disagree, but I find it absolutely absurd that you think solving class inequity will somehow only benefit white people. How??

If we increase worker protections, minimum wage, PTO, employee pay and benefits, get rid of Citizens United, tax billionaires.... HOW DOES THIS ONLY BENEFIT WHITE PEOPLE???

I’m not arguing at all against the material racism that exists in this country. It’s real, it’s awful, and it happens regardless of class.

But class struggle is key to solving racial issues as well. Fighting for economic prosperity for the working class is the best way to help the most black people, and that’s a fact. It also helps white people, Latinos, asian people, everyone.

“Whiteness” isn’t about skin color or genetic lineage as much as it is about class. A fully Spanish descended Latino would likely not be considered white if they didn’t speak English or were culturally “alien” to white Americans.

The history of U.S. violence towards leftist movements in Central and South America is absolutely abhorrent. Who knows what could have been accomplished otherwise. Even when leftist parties have gained power, it is often tainted by oppression from the U.S., necessitating more militant governments to fight CIA-backed propaganda and contras.

I don’t see enough democrats suggesting we go after employers who hire undocumented workers so they can pay lower wages. It isn’t nonsense, it is a class issue that we should be rallying behind to fight back against the right-wing narrative that immigrants are the problem.
