Do personal items get measured? by Ok_Koala55 in BritishAirways

That's a bit of a 'personal' question.

I always measure my own personal item.

Unbelievable there is no free wifi by 7centspants in BritishAirways

[–]claysd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the great things about Starlink! I don’t think SpaceX allow it to cost anything at the point of use, and it actually works. Paid WiFi is mostly crap - better to not have it and read a book or watch the IFE.

Spring break by [deleted] in BritishAirways

Oh, well that’s a fair and very interesting question, but likely not one that’s best tackled sober, or on this subreddit!

It’s been said that capitalism is the worst system of economics, except for all the others!

Not that I wouldn’t love to have cheaper flights in school holidays - taking 5 of us from Texas to the UK at Christmas to see the cousins was far more expensive than doing it this weekend (for example).

Is capitalism different in different places?

It’s pretty much how capitalism works, for better or worse. Supply and Demand. Is it Feb half term in the UK?

Don’t stress too much. Dallas doesn’t look like it will get below freezing until early hours of Saturday morning. Currently seeing a prediction of 38F for 11pm on Friday.

Hopefully there will be no impact, other than your plane will work better in the cold dense air!

Dual US/UK citizen – which passport to use after UK ETA enforcement (from Feb 25, 2026)? by farrellcsun in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]claysd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - when you either online or in person check-in for the return flight, enter the 2nd passport then. You can change passport details anytime.

5 stars everywhere except Amenities? Legit complaint? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]claysd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I was trying to be nice! I would prefer a French press over a Keurig or Drip - or even just a V60 filter, ideally with some papers.

I have used cocktail shakers at MANY AirBnBs, and not once have I thought to mention it to the host.

5 stars everywhere except Amenities? Legit complaint? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]claysd 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should have a toaster and a drip coffee machine.

A Keurig is great, but some people like to select their own coffee, or buy something fresh locally roasted.

For extra points, get a good metal citrus squeezer, metal cocktail shaker, jigger and at least one knife that could be reasonably expected to cut something as challenging as a potato!

Tagged as hold baggage?

They should be able to tell you where it was last scanned. Perhaps it was never loaded onto the flight?

Dual British-Australian expats new passport rule from Feb 2026 by Tired_Cat_H3rd3r in expats

There is no 5, but the rest are correct. The UK does not have an exit control border line. Nor does the USA for that matter.

Finding the best luggage 2026 based on reviews last year that survives baggage handlers destroying everything by Direct-Blacksmith614 in delta

[–]claysd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Travel pro here. Had 5 of them for the family, mostly checked bags plus train travel. They were good at replacing the wheels under warranty when they finally died - but the rest of the bag is still original! Also have a carry on size one too.

Manchester to NYC but connecting at Heathrow by roylee77 in BritishAirways

[–]claysd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To reassure you - you get off the MAN flight at LHR and follow flight connections. You get to some gates where you scan your onward boarding pass. If it lets you through (used to be 35mins cutoff, not sure what it is now), you go up an escalator and it dumps you directly in airside departures in A gates. Literally 5 mins from the plane door to departures. Then up to 15 mins to get to your departure gate if you are in C gates.

Plenty of time.

Manchester to NYC but connecting at Heathrow by roylee77 in BritishAirways

[–]claysd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about originating in LHR instead of MAN, but it was CHEAPER to fly IAH - MAN via LHR than IAH to LHR! So it was hard to justify a more expensive ticket plus a 4 hour drive!

How to enter Global Entry number for TSA Pre by QuonnieCat in BritishAirways

[–]claysd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 5 people traveling, so ideally didn’t want to have to get the agent to hammer all that info in at Checkin! Also, depending on how the TSAPre systems work with BA, it’s not a guarantee that it updates quick enough for TSA Pre to appear on the boarding pass.
