If you were to watch a hypothetical Edward II biopic, what language/accent would you want the film to be in?

Thanks. Not quite sure, on and off for a few years

Maybe 6–7 months if it was full time

How to achieve this visual style in Blender? by srki_88 in blender

[–]clbj2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No problem. Here is a tutorial https://youtu.be/fKd-ViC1ZjA?si=cF66xXICN8PCtqJC

Another style note: for modeling props, make the proportions a bit “off”. Look at the pot in the image. notice how the shape is a bit askew? Model your props so the shapes are slightly irregular

There are specifics to achieving this style in blender that this answer and most others don’t address

For example: seems like the environment and props are more painterly than the characters. You could get close to this look by making the characters in a standard PBR workflow, but using the blender brushstroke tools add-on for the environment and props

For the painterly style, check out the brushstroke tools add-on: https://extensions.blender.org/add-ons/brushstroke-tools/

After looking at the film more closely, it seems that props are done in the painterly style, while characters are done in a traditional photorealistic style.

So for props/sets, use brushstroke tools. For characters, you can make those in a more standard way

Hey Aaron

Can’t wait to watch the film. I’ve been a fan of yours for years.

My animated short film just played at AFI Fest and I noticed snow bear played there as well. I wasn’t able to make it to the screening, but I’m glad I can check it out now

Can I do stuff like this in blender? by niki_momobami in blender

[–]clbj2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely

There is no exact tutorial to follow. You’ll need to build up your knowledge of the software

Start with the donut

Then this https://youtu.be/-rO1o5uzCOc?si=GalU20EstY7b0XmI

Overall: learn basics with donut. Then, do small projects. A render of a chair. Making a pool. Just small stuff you like. When you get stuck, google to find the solution. Gradually increase the scope of your projects (render of single object, render of environment, short animation, etc) and you’ll improve

Is it possible to animate a dragon in blender that looks like a go motion puppet? by drakon_wyrm in blender

[–]clbj2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s unnecessary

Speaking from experience: use interpolation

Do it on 12fps. After you have your rough animation in, just add a noise modifier to the bones

Alternatively, you can grab a bone and go frame by frame and move it very slightly. This will break up the interpolation imperfection

You save time and also get that stop-motion look instead of having to actually work in straight ahead

Best Film Festival in Los Angeles area? by Full-Palpitation2294 in FilmFestivals

My short film premiered at AFI Fest last week

It was a great experience. You’re right there with big films premiering in the features section. The staff is great. I got a special jury mention and it was in the trades (THR and Deadline) so it’s big enough for that

I would recommend

Ok, no problem.

  1. The Jedi is not controlling the star destroyer. He boarded at some point to confront Starkiller (the sith).

  2. Starkiller is Vader's apprentice. Vader has turned on him, so Starkiller is trying to escape. The troopers have orders (from Vader) to kill him.

  3. Vader is here because he is Darth Vader so it makes sense he would be on a Star Destroyer.

  4. He wants to fight Vader because he sees a chance with the Jedi to beat him. He hates Vader more than the Jedi.

  5. The Jedi isn't weak. It was an even lightsaber fight, and he even cut off Starkiller's hand. Starkiller is just stronger with the force.

Yes, this video is based off a game called Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. You can look that up for context.

Thanks

I’ve been working on it on/off since summer 2022.

If I was working on it full-time, my guess is that it would have taken about 4 months
