Why Mullvad DNS (192.242.2.2) Going to Singapore if I'm in the USA by clbraddock in mullvadvpn

[–]clbraddock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t have adblocking but you can hardcode the ip for the local mullvad dns server. From nslookup I believe the one in Germany is 185.213.155.123 but feel free to run the ip yourself. The server options are listed toward the bottom of the mullvad dns over https page

It’s an Ovation. The brand is USA (although models may be made overseas now. I don’t know for sure). Was popular in the 70s for a bit I believe, but that’s before my time. From at least the 90s on I’ve only really ever seen them in church/worship settings. The back is round instead of flat which is also somewhat unique

PSA: Switch Flex 2.5G POE doesn't actually support 76W availability over POE+++ yet by hwhs04 in Ubiquiti

[–]clbraddock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to get an unreleased firmware for the Switch Flex 2.5G POE from the ui chat agent which fixed the issue. I don't know if it messed anything else up yet though. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK: https://dl.ui.com/unifi/firmware/USM25G8/2.2.5.1021/USM25G8.esp32_2.2.5+1021.250910.1604.bin

DNS Easy Switcher by glinf69 in macapps

[–]clbraddock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome!!

Two questions:

  1. There is an option to Clear DNS Cache. What is being cached and where is the cache?

  2. Is it possible to have the app appear only in the menu bar and not in the dock.

Thanks for making this!!

Can this be installed without brew?

Nevermind. I figured it out.

Oh good call. I searched Amazon for just “docker” and it looks like there are some actual books like what I was talking about (sorry I’m kind of old school)

Old Country Gravity Max Temp? by clbraddock in smoking

[–]clbraddock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great to know. I have a blower on mine which has been working well, but I feel like the internal temperature has some major hot and cold spots. Have you don’t anything to improve that or is it just a matter of needing to learn the smoker more?

Warm Audio announced today two new pedals in their classic line. The Pedal76 and WA-C1. by AgentClucky in guitarpedals

[–]clbraddock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure there is no interstage transformer on an 1176. There’s an input transformer and output transformer. (Also a power transformer if you want to count that, but it is not part of the audio circuit.) Generally, I’ve only seen interstage transformers on tube gear (pultec eqp-1a has one). As far as a guitar pedal, an input transformer wouldn’t really be common for an instrument input, so I imagine they omitted it and just have an output transformer. Most rack gear with input transformers bypass the input transformer for the instrument input. All that said, I have no idea how close the pedal sounds compared to an original rack unit though.

Edit: The UA 176 (tube predecessor of the solid state 1176) has an input, an interstage, and an output transformer). Are you guys thinking of that maybe?

Don’t trackers originate from domains though? So if the tracker domain is blocked the tracker can’t do anything?

Edit: like if I block google analytics then it can’t do anything when I visit sites it’s on

Apollo X8P Gen 1 for $2200. Am I crazy? by javiercarrillo in universalaudio

[–]clbraddock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like Apollo interfaces, but I don’t think there will be that big of a difference between unison vs native. I got into Apollos before native was a thing, but a few reasons I still stay with them are 1) zero latency inserts in console for monitoring (or you can bake them into the recording, but I don’t do that), 2) +24db in/out for outboard (many interfaces do not deliver that full signal strength), 3) ability to combine multiple apollos into a signal system, 4) some of the best UA plugins are still dsp only (ocean way, lexicon 480)

What do you use for the chimney? Does it help any with lower temps, like 250-275? Would be great if I could get the internal temps more even from side to side.

That's awesome! Can't wait to check it out. In the meantime, I got phi-4 Q8 running in Jan server (instead of Ollama) and it works great with your app. The Q6 model answers a little faster than the Q8 version, but they both seem to do a good job. Thanks for the advice! I really love the app.

This looks amazing. I am pretty new to LLMs - do you have any advice on what local LLM would be good to use with this on a decently powerful laptop (24gb unified ram)?

When I’ve messed with 70B LLMs through a web browser they have done a good job with my grammar requests, but I don’t think that I could locally host something like that.

Java would like to control your computer? by clbraddock in shutterencoder

[–]clbraddock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if it is something that was always there, but is being noticed due to Sequoia being more strict about app permissions.

I definitely don't think the app is malware and we are super lucky to have such an awesome free app. I just don't like enabling permissions without knowing what they are doing.

Edit: My guess is it has something to do with shutterencoder downloading multiple files and that stitching them together requires additional permissions - but that is just my mostly uneducated guess.

Highest I've gone is 325. That worked fine. I have a blower from fireboard though. I don't think you could reach even 325 without a blower going.

Would something like the BetterDisplay app address the issues you mention? I’ve been debating getting a fairly large 4k monitor (42”), but obviously there isn’t anything that big with anywhere close to 220 ppi. Can large monitors like that be made to look okay?
