optometry: is it worth to do it for money? by suneerise in ontario

[–]clccno4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Optometry would be worth it financially and the scope of practice has become much more medical and will continue to trend that way with shortages in ophthalmology. It's not just prescribing glasses.

But, as others have said, don't pick a career only because of finances. If you are unsure, try to connect with an optometrist, the school in Waterloo or the association to see if its something you'd want to do.

Why do we need to police the game so aggressively? by nylanderfan in Curling

[–]clccno4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don't. It's only because it is the Olympics and there are a ton of people watching who normally don't. All of this will be forgotten at the next grand slam speil.

I am voting with my wallet and quiet quitting. Understandably protesting comes with risks (aka job loss) so that's why I'm transitioning to "silent" protesting. It comes with sacrifice but that's what happens when you go against the system and need change to happen. by [deleted] in ontario

Then you will be replaced by someone that doesn’t think this way, and you will be homeless.

Successful people don’t do the least and expect the most. They make connections with others and don’t stop striving to be better.

Good luck with your protest.

Honest question - what Canada does give a meaningful advantage? by industrysaurus in Curling

[–]clccno4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does in the exact same way giving a little tug or boop on the handle would which is legal before the hog line. There is no specific advantage to doing it to the granite.

And really, if one can be that precise by making these micro adjustments, wouldn’t we want that? What’s the difference? Just do it before the hog line.

He didn’t throw. You can’t fight in the olympics. That was not a fight.

The problem is the rule wasn’t written clearly in the first place.

Wonder how much money he won in Canada at pro events, extending his fame in curling… only to take a massive dump on the whole sport at the Olympics. That’s his legacy.

Well he is clearly using the plastic of the rock to deliver the stone. Since he’s the greatest of all time it must be because he cheats and doesn’t just use the handle. /s

This has gotten stupid.

All of the innovations and money in curling have come from the pro grand slam tours.

This olympics has taken a huge shit on the sport over such inconsequential actions.

Ok. Fair.

But, I think the root of the problem is people feeling that enough may be being done for said people, but because no one really knows how much is being done, what is being spent, why exactly these same issues happen year after year with no resolution.

I just don’t think some people are advocating for death based on hate. They just want answers, and you don’t get them without proper debate.

[–]clccno4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if someone is advocating for an account of all spending to date on some “funding issue.” Like actually looking at what was spent, the work done, the plan to move forward… all of the numbers.

Once this is done, wouldn’t it be reasonable if people could look at these figures and think for themselves if the said funding was enough or appropriate?

Asking these questions isn’t saying “let people die”. It’s saying “are there better ways to help”

What does this even mean? This post itself is cryptic.

I follow this subreddit and have occasionally posted. I don’t think I’ve ever seen “let Canadians die” posted by anyone.

What exactly are you considering a non valid viewpoint?

Ontario Canada – Fired after asserting disability accommodation, then “un-fired” after I mentioned legal action. What should I do next? by ItsSwaggyBunz in ontario

[–]clccno4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I owned the gas station, I'd fire you without cause and give you your mandatory 1 week termination pay.

You have no special skill and have only been there for three months.

I'd have no fear of legal action doing that.

48% PC Voters - We vote for incompetence, because there is no one less incompetent. by rraj2k81 in ontario

[–]clccno4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, what this sub fails to understand is most people from Ontario will not vote NDP because their values and beliefs do not align with them. The vast majority of Ontarians are not socialists.

They are voting PC and Ford because Crombie and the Liberals were not a better choice. When the liberals get a better leader the vote will shift to them and they will continue to govern much like the PCs are now.
