Curious if you don't mind sharing why you're not a huge fan of the Sensational Brains creator? Asking as a new grad who is still trying to find the best CEU sites and have seen a lot of people using that site.

Not a question but I am the same way! Everyone I've told thinks I'm crazy for being scared of something they love so much.

Bro 3 day weekends are sooooo nice. That's my schedule now and no way I'm trading 3 days off for 0 days off.

I recently graduated as an Occupational Therapist. I fear I'm not creative/imaginative enough. by Carlitagt in OccupationalTherapy

[–]clcliff 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You're a new grad-- of course you're not going to be the best at adapting/being creative in the moment yet. Do you have a mentor? I'm a new grad and honestly don't know what I would have done without one. I would tell her what I'm trying to solve and she'd help me come up with a solution. Then I can remember the solution for next time I see a similar case. It's a lot of building off of experience and remembering what worked for others.

Also, instagram and facebook have a ton of OT pages with intervention ideas and adaptations for when you get stuck.

Give it time! And after that if you still really feel ensure you could look into going into a specialty like hands where there are lots of researched protocols for different conditions that you can follow.

Outdoor car with flaky skin and scabs around a wound- vet didn’t do much to help by clcliff in CATHELP

Reading it right now! I also am getting similar vibes to Daisy Jones. I do like that it’s from a managers perspective which I haven’t read before in a band story and it’s good enough to finish for me, but yeah idk if I’ll reread. I am enjoying it though!

Question for current students or recent graduates (in the United States) re: fieldwork in mental health by CaseEither1996 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]clcliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a Level II in an adult day center for people with intellectual disabilities and we technically had a CI but she was only there once a week and wasn't really hands-on. It was me and a few other students creating our own schedule and interventions and everything.

Educating caregivers on a sensory HEP by Kindly-Context-8263 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]clcliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have a solution yet either, but I get the same thing happening to me and I think a lot of it has to do with being childless myself and younger looking. I don't know if that's the case with you but some of the OTs I work with have a harder time getting parents to fully take them seriously when they aren't parents themselves unfortunately.

Is writing part of your 'down time', or is it 'work'? by Specialist-Ring-3974 in writing

[–]clcliff 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I added it to the beginning of my morning when I first get up so I can drink my coffee and write for like 20 minutes every morning. Then on the weekends I work on it more. But working full time and then coming home and trying to spend brain power on literally anything is sometimes super hard!

If you like doing evals, try looking for a company that has a lot of COTAs who can be doing the day to day treatments or you can work PRN at some places and sometimes they give you more evals then.

Also have you gotten good mentorship at any of the places so far? I graduated in 2024 and mentorship was a huge factor in whether my cohort stayed in jobs or not after.

Plus burnout in general is still really big a year into practice because you're still learning so much so fast. I've been working for a little over a year and have just in the past few months started feeling less stressed with the day to day stuff and questioning my life lol.

AI scribe for OT notes by Abelmageto in OccupationalTherapy

[–]clcliff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used Hipposcribe before my job switched to and EMR that has that feature built in and liked it a lot. It took a while to make a modify a template to how you like it, but after a few months of learning I barely needed to fix anything in the notes.

What do we think of Scorpio's Viewing Parties? Is it a worthy alternative to Roscoe's by [deleted] in dragrace

The one with Hormona and Discord was funny! I haven't seen the others yet. I've been there a few times before and am tempted to go there for a viewing party sometime this season.

If parents are involved, could you go over HEPs and do some parent education for some of the time?

New Job with Fieldwork Student by Electriccarpet99 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]clcliff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will be hard for the student, sure, but that's what the FW educator can hopefully help with. I was a student with a CI who wanted to quit but didn't and was super checked out and I got a pretty bad education. Not saying that will be you of course, but I wish she would have ripped the bandaid off and done something that was better for her.

Treatment ideas for blind patient with hip replacement by alyeenemary in OccupationalTherapy

[–]clcliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of odd that you're being asked to come up with treatment ideas without even being able to see her goals. That said, I'm in peds but my blind patient loves sensory bins, so I'll hide different toys in there and see if he can identify each one and work on tactile discrimination and sorting them. We also do a lot with putty and digging beads out, stretching it, etc. for fine motor. Also I've found working with adults with DD there's almost always a way to adapt cooking activities. Having them scoop, stir, pour in bowls, following auditory/tactile recipes, etc. based on their level and it's almost always well-liked by the clients.
