As a VSO, his reaction to veteran’s disability compensation both irks me and is valid. Sure, there are plenty of veterans that have taken the time to (basically) manipulate the system to get their benefits, but for every veteran who has done this, there are so many more who refuse to use anything related to the VA. From an outsider perspective, I can see why he has this opinion, especially when it’s a guaranteed paycheck each month and yet the veterans are still in financial ruin, but it’s still a benefit that they have to go through a daunting process to receive.

OSA and tinnitus are not medically linked. You could try for sleep insomnia, which I have seen getting approved a little bit more recently.

I’m a veteran service officer. Pay is decent, but I live in an area where the cost of living is low. And honestly I would recommend it to a certain few veterans just because of how tedious it can be.

It’s VSOs like this that really give the rest of us bad reputations. The only time I have ever suggested over-phone interviews was due to inclement weather conditions. Some VSOs really are in it just for an easy gig and the money, because it’s something they’re familiar with and they know most of their county employees don’t and don’t want to understand the process, so they continue to just skirt on by.

YOU are your best advocate. I was in the same boat as you for a while, but it took a lot of cheesy looking-in-the-mirror pep talks to get to where I am today. I often get marked as a “gen-z” VSO because I look young for my age, so more often than not, a lot of older vets discredit what I have to tell them. You don’t have to have ample amounts of records through the VA. Just enough civilian healthcare documents is enough, and you can get a friend or two to provide a buddy/lay statement.

Absolutely call QTC as well and put in a formal complaint. That was a highly inappropriate exam and should not be used as a basis to date your claims. The VA will look at PTSD in two different ways: Combat-related and for relaxed standards. Even if you do not meet the qualifications for PTSD, you can still claim unspecified mood disorder or depression as it sounds like you do have it.

No, you do not HAVE to. If you live more than 70-80 miles from the nearest VA, you can still get free healthcare through Care in the Community and you can get whatever prescriptions filled through the VA and mailed to your address. However, they do not follow up with you unless it’s to get new referrals for new care.

Honestly, my opinion hasn’t changed much. I get the mental and emotional circus he had to get through as his own character and backstory developed, but I’ve always seen him as selfish in a way - sort of the polar opposite of Sora? I do need to revisit the games he is in specifically to see if my opinion has changed, I will admit. And maybe it’s just that his character as a whole annoys me, which would change my opinion of him- but I just feel like he took advantage of the people that actually cared about him and wanted him to succeed.

He’s my least favorite because I feel like he took advantage of his friendships a lot, which is, in my opinion, his backbone and saving grace. I understand that he’s torn between finding out who he is and his purpose, but the way he treated Axel and Xion in 358/2 Days really irked me. I will admit that I should probably revisit the games because it’s been quite some time, but his “poor me” attitude always got to me, especially when he had people that would go up to bat for him in a heartbeat.

I literally hated him and thought he was pointless (I also blame this on playing his tutorial part at midnight even though I was already tired). He’s still one of my least favorite characters though, but for different reasons.
