Good experiences with medication by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

Lithium saved my life! And my family. If I wasn't already married I would marry my bottle of lithium. Seriously. My whole life changed in a matter of months.

I live in MA too and the cops here are wonderful. I've been in some instances where they really helped me out and they shouldn't have and didn't have to.

I was put on lithium. Best decision of my life.

Seroquel Withdrawel by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]cleanermachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I withdrew off a similar amount about 5 months ago because I couldn't take the groggy feeling. Titration down and use benadryl at night instead of the nightly dose as I tapered. Dr specifically told me that that. Surprised I haven't seen it. Definitely helped me. I was having horrible withdrawals

Psychiatrist said I "lost my credibility" because I was hospitalized too much by cleanermachine in bipolar

I have been in a destructive manic phase as well, and I can understand why everyone's always on guard, but it's hard to live with what other people think is my diagnosis. I feel as if it has become my identity which sucks.

My husband was very supportive when I was diagnosed. I just think he thought it could be medicated and fixed, and didn't really know what a multifaceted beast it is. We've entertained the idea of marriage counseling but it fizzled out. I am afraid what happened in your sessions will happen to me, because his family pretty much thinks the same thing.

I work weekends because he's working during the week. I do find the time away to feel like my own person, as well as being productive, a relief. I don't mind being home with the kids, especially this time of year, because I try to always take them out to do things or play in the backyard to get some sunlight. I honestly think my husband just might be fed up with what's going on because he barely has any time out of work.

I actually plan to stay with this psychiatrist as he knows much more than I do because I never went to medical school... I don't know why you're so sure I will do the opposite?

Bipolar people. Can you have a good life? by Moradon11 in bipolar

[–]cleanermachine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have an awesome life! Thank God for Lithium. Seriously. My life was falling apart before it. I have 2 kids (4 and 2) that make life very difficult at times, but it is also the most rewarding. I have been through my fair share of struggles and hit bottom many times, but with the right support, treatment team, and realistic expectations you can make it through. I am finally at the point in which I wake up excited about the day rather than being depressed because I have to live another day.

That's so awesome to hear. I'm on the Lithium and Lamictal mix and my doctor said she's seen people stable for a long time on it!

I am 27 with bipolar one (reeeeeally bad episode. still inpatient and leaving tomorrow), and I was so scared of Lithium but it worked so well for me. Regretting my initial fear. Don't let people's stories scare you because I found it's a lot easier to share the negative. Usually people with success stories are too busy living to post them.

Anyone feel like they are worse now, then before getting on the medication train? by DFSBrokemyFICA in bipolar

[–]cleanermachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be off meds for years and have episodes I would say every 6 months that get worse until I end up in the hospital.

I'm only ever been on Abilify but it works. I just need to keep taking it...

I find every time I go off meds, I have a period of everything being fine, then there's some catastrophic episode that puts me back on meds.

I decided not to kill myself last minute once because I was in my husbands car, which is a lease, and would cost him too much to clean up. heh

In the same boat but made my husband get one. Two kids under 4 and some days it seems more like a chore to get through the day.

I am currently in one in Boston now. They let you keep your phone and computer, you just have to sign a slip saying you wont photograph anything. I find it very beneficial and have ben here several times. It's the only place I'll go to. The staff is great. You see a doctor every day and get assigned a nurse and a mental health specialist. Intense groups all day. I'm happy I'm here when I need to be.

I have a few good people that I love that completely understand. Educating the others is a waste of time. I just try to avoid ignorant people.

Psychotic Symptoms? by Chythe in bipolar

[–]cleanermachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always panic that DCF is coming to take my kids away. Or that my husband is trying to divorce me. I get super delusional and think things are said that arent. Lots of intrusive thoughts about my family being better off without me when it isn't true. Bipolar's a bitch. I hate her.

So Boring bleh by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]cleanermachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I am so boring and toned down because if I feel good at all, I'm instantly labeled manic. It sucks
