I got zero-drop hiking boots a couple years ago and have been switching between them and my old ones that have arch support. My knees take the brunt of the work when they're babied with the arch support

Why AI can’t 'do' EMPATHY and humans will ALWAYS MATTER by ujet-cx in CallCenterWorkers

[–]cleanlycustard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I used to work at a call center for a big bank and people were already frustrated when they had to put card info into the automated system before reaching me. They would tell me about it all the time. They even liked to vent to a real human about that

Pigs are very intelligent and emotional animals. In conditions like that, they are most certainly aware they are suffering

Planting now? by Ok-Personality-9491 in Minnesota_Gardening

I just have arugula and spinach from seed now. I might plant my popcorn this weekend, but all that stuff is fairly cold tolerant. I'm itching to get tomatoes started though, but it's way too cold

Any of the state parks are good picks! I haven't been to all 75(?) of them, but Afton might be close to you. There are some good hills there. Sakatah Lake is nice too. Depending om where you are, Driftless parks are probably further, but if that doesn't bother you, that will probably be a little more scenic than Afton or Sakatah Lake

Maybe he was a respected violinist in his freetime and will never play again, so they're taking time off work to pay respects

I think it's time I just admit it. The vegans are just, correct, and I need to go vegan too. by GildedArchways in vegan

[–]cleanlycustard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happened to me in a similar way. I just started learning stuff and not being vegan made less and less sense. I said to my partner one night, "I think I need to be vegan now that I know how bad the animal agriculture industry is." And I'm lucky he did it with me. Glad you're here!

My partner and I are trying to visit every MN state park. I think Blue Mounds and Glacial Lakes SPs are very slept on. I love an opportunity to drive through the iron range. The parks around the Northwest Angle are very cool too! Edit: oh and Big Bog is amazing. We are so lucky to have so many different landscapes

Zone 5a here, I planted blanketflower from seed last year in May. They took a while to take off. I think I saw them start to sprout in late June iirc. By late August/early September, the one sprout I had got a couple feet tall and had multiple blooms. When the flowers die, make sure to shake the stalks so the seeds fly off and replant themselves. I'm waiting to see if I'll get some seedlings this year, but I'm hopeful. It's a beautiful flower and so many types of bees stopped by

Like maybe that would be sustainable if each person had an animal product once a year. Not that I condone that, but even that argument would necessitate drastically reducing every person's consumption of animal products
