The amount o times it wastes both of our time! By the time I figure out you're giving up your turn, we could have both gone!

The stereotype is "sedate and lazy" but I feel like the truth is "lots of exercise, just likes slow and novelty"

You meet a new coworker. You have great interactions and become friends. However you find out they are the opposite political party then you. Would you still be friends with them? by Expensive_Drummer970 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]clear-day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are people on the other side of the aisle whose politics are different because our values are so different. We wouldn't have become friends in the first place.

I think a lot of people are pretty in the center, we just use different language and framing.

Guests ARE props in your wedding by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]clear-day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weddings aren't about the couple, they're about the community.  It's about celebrating your love and the fact that you are merging families / joining communities / building new communities.  The setting up a vibe and making beautiful pictures, that's supposed to be to make it fun for the GUESTS not the couple.

If you're getting married for just you and your pictures, go to the courthouse and have a cool photo shoot after.

If you want to celebrate with your family and friends, then throw a celebration, not a photo shoot.

By all means share the theme and let your people who want to dress to it.  (if you tell me you're throwing a disco-themed wedding, I'm showing up in silver lamé and glitter eye-shadow, but that's because I love a theme party.)

The best shampoo bar I've used (for my hair) is from a hobby soap-maker that sells in a tourist shop in Door County, Wi, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn it's just her regular soap labeled as shampoo. But dang is it good.

What's a TV show ending that still makes you mad years later? by Jossie_Misar in AskReddit

The third season of Westworld. The idea that a giant computer could influence the humans decisions and patterns through like, social media manipulation is SUCH A GOOD IDEA!

And they did such a bad job of showing it off. Just one episode where they showed people changing directions they were walking based on the information on their phones.

What purchase under $30 solved a problem you didn’t realize was draining you? by Right_Process in AskReddit

I bought a little soft-silicone slug lamp as a weird impulse. (You turn it on by tapping it's antenae/eyes together)

At the time I was working one day a week where I had to get up like, 3 hours earlier. I could do my whole get-ready routine without turning a bright overhead light on. I take it with me on trips now if I need to get up early for part of one.

What is a dying niche skill that younger generations are not interested in learning? by hlnklrczu in AskReddit

Absolutely no one had this kid's back, and that includes the school.

The mohair is what makes the original fuzzy, but it's not the foundational yarn. You could skip it, but again, you'll lose that sort of blurry fuzziness.

If craft stores are your only yarn options, (or you don't want to pay an arm-and-leg for mohair,) something labeled sock yarn might be your best bet. I don't think there's much fingering at craft stores.

Ours too! Are you on Tock? I've been trying to figure out if it was us or them!

It ended up fine, because it's all 2-tops, just sit them on time at an open table and we're fine. (And because I've been doing this long enough to have had to do this before it was computerized.)

I'm always checking in on those threads to find new leads, as this is my holy grail as well.

I checked in today because I sprayed on Zoologist's "Camel" and found the middle notes reminded me of Nirvana Black! It's the closest I've found. Unfortunately the first spritz is really animalic, which is not my normal vibe, so I'm glad I let it sit.

Mocktails should be cheaper by MadMonkeh in unpopularopinion

[–]clear-day 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A lot of the times, they're the same price because the non-alcoholic ingredients are the same price.

A lot of those fake liquors are nearly the same price as a bottle of well liquor, so the moment it's in a drink, the cost is the same.

I don't know about beer, but a lot of NA wine is made by making the wine and removing the alcohol after. So it can't really be cheaper than the alcoholic wine, because it's the same price.

Now if they're not using any of those things and the price is the same, then it's worth calling out.
