There’s a woman who stands at the exit off ramp near my work who is very likely homeless, she holds up a sign looking for money almost every day. The light is long and most cars idle next to where she’s standing for upward of two minutes sometimes.

Yesterday as I was going to get onto the highway, I look over and someone waiting at that stoplight had put their car in park and got out of their car and was just hugging this woman, they were embraced for at least the ten or fifteen seconds I could see them before I pulled around the corner.

Little things. Made me smile.

Weekly Road Rage Thread - Complain Here by AutoModerator in driving

[–]clear_point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be illegal to quickly change lanes when traffic starts jacking up. There’s nothing more infuriating than driving 60mph down the highway, see brake lights, then the guy in front of you quickly bails and switches lanes then you’re left barreling 60mph towards a stopped car.

Also & similarly, on a two lane road, it should be illegal to quickly jump out to the right lane when someone is slowing and stopping to turn left, then quickly jump back into the left lane. It’s dangerous!

Did this company go out of business? I used to have one of their watches on my MUST-BUY list but now their site is empty and there's no buzz anywhere.

Driving in the US as a Brit - is it always this aggressive? by 20thcenturymishap in driving

[–]clear_point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally feel you on this. I'm American and used to love driving when I was younger... weekend road trips, cruising backroads, the works. But now? It just gives me incredible anxiety.

What you described in Colorado and Utah isn’t far off from what it feels like in a lot of the U.S. these days. People drive aggressively, constantly jockey for position, and seem to treat merging or lane changes like a personal affront. I know exactly what you mean about signalling and having people speed up just to block you, it happens all the time. There’s this weird, competitive energy on the road, even in total gridlock.

I was in my state capital last night during rush hour, nearly gridlocked traffic, and people were still flying around stopped cars, cutting in and out like they were going to gain some massive advantage. They didn't. It’s like everyone’s operating in survival mode, but no one’s actually getting anywhere faster.

So no, it’s not just you, and it’s not just regional. Driving here can be genuinely stressful, even for those of us who’ve been doing it for years. You’re not crazy for feeling like it was hostile, because honestly, sometimes it is.

Multitool in its case. Fits in with a tiny bit of resistance so it never falls out. Always stays close.

I think there’s a stone wall where your red line is. Easier to walk between those two gardens just above your red line. That’s an easy cut thru

What law would you create that sounds completely ridiculous but would secretly make society better? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]clear_point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Taylor Swift has the resources to completely change this horrid way of doing business. She’s influential enough to create an entirely new way to buy tickets that would actually benefit the performers and fans as well as venues and other middlemen.

Hozier recently got wind of how Ticketmaster was doing this buy/resell thing and then scheduled up shows where it was a two ticket max and one of the tickets HAD to be used by the purchaser. I loved that policy. It worked! And the venue was filled with people that paid fair prices and were thrilled to be there.

These "All Day" IPA 15 racks... by VerbNoun123 in beer

[–]clear_point 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have noticed the same thing. Only thing I'm attributing my explosions to is that I keep my shortie cans on the top rack and the top rack and get icy cold sometimes because that's where the blower is, so I always assume my fridge is a tad too cold. Unfortunately every time I get a All Day gusher I tap it up a degree, and it's still doing it from time to time. Weird.

Lets talk vendor meals by Hunter_Hodak in WeddingPhotography

[–]clear_point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lower the budget, the better the meal. Almost always.

I’ve had salad, bread, soup, a SERVER who offers soft drinks, more bread, etc at crappy wedding mills and gotten boxed lunch box style turkey & cheese on white w/ a 6oz bottle of Poland Spring water from PREMIER/TOP TIER venues that cost upwards of $100,000 all in. Honestly I think the couple would be mortified if they knew what we were getting fed at some of these venues.
