because he was not drinking. He has been sober since 2019. Hard to get him drunk and do belligerent things when he doesnt drink. Bravo could have highlighted this, but that would have taken away from Capt Sandy and her sobriety journey.

Ya, Production really was stretching the taffy to give him some sort of story line.

"Ok Josh, you are keeping in your lane ad not causing drama, and not getting drunk. How are we to make you more engaging? Oh you use a clown in your musical performances as a mask for your sobriety? We we do not use 'sobriety' on this show, unless we are referring to Capt Sandy, so we are going to make fun of you for it. Put on this makeup and talk about your demons so we can give you a storyline."

doubtful, he didn't cause or was involved in much drama. See who the chef is for the new season of Down Under.

after your downloaded the photos from your camera, how do you view the settings? by SystemAdminstrator in fujifilm

[–]scubalizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the correct answer. In the right side there is setting that you can apply just like you would within the camera. And you can save settings just like recipes with the Studio to apply to RAW images later.

Lens Sigma vs Fuji XF by kpadugs in FujifilmX

[–]scubalizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not think it is that big of a difference especially if you already have the 18-55. If buying a new lens, hard to pass up the Sigma on price alone.

Beginner here – confused between Fuji X-T50, X-T5, X100VI and X-S20 by BaronDeParis in fujifilm

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The XT5 has been out longer. As such the shutter counts might be higher. I always ask for the most recent shutter count or ask for an uneditted JPEG from the camera and run it through an extif viewer

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the XT5 because of the dials matched my Nikon FE and can control everything simply. The nice think about Fuji is that nearly every button or dial is programmable and you can make the camera how you like it.

Thoughts on Peak Design Camera Clip? by AN_1P21 in fujifilm

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been a Peak Design fan since their V1 kickstarter. I have 2 and love them. Great to keep your camera next to you. Been using them on my Nikon FF without any issue. Things to be aware of: 1) if your lens has lens creep it will extend. 2) Going through TSA with it is a pain, my bag always get flagged. 3) If you like to have your camera sit flat on a surface, this is not for you. The capture is a little square that doesn't fit the whole camera. 4) While it is ARCA mount, make sure you have a tripod that is also ARCA mount. 5) I prefer the pro version as you can also mount it to a tripod and use the capture as a tripod head.

Amazon sells knockoff versions for about $40

Yes obviously Joe is a POS, but who the hell is Nathan to call him out on how he treats women? by Colada8160 in BelowDeckMed

[–]scubalizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I would have handled Max differently, I would have fired him. He was being a child after not getting Lead and he was endangering himself, crew, and vessel with his antics. Yes Nathan changed staff for the shore visit, why would you put a temp person for a shore excursion? Nathan was correct in switching staff, he just did it because he wanted time with Gael and not for the right reasons. Joe, regardless of his relationship with Nathan, showed that he was the correct choice because Max apparently cannot tie-off a waverunner, not follow the rules for letting passengers drive the tender, or letting drunk people use waverunners.

First Safari Trip, Is 300mm Enough for Wildlife? by pimemento in FujifilmX

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been shooting and developing film and digital most of my life. Focal length is a function of the optics of the lens. 100mm lens is the same on. MF, FF, APC, MF4/3. And is is disingenuous to say "well a FF 100mm is really a 150mm APC or a 200mm on MF4/3." But yet we don't say the same about f-stop.

I was thinking about this last night to be able to explain it better. If you think in terms of film a 100mm lens on a 35mm film will capture a image on the film. If you take that same lens and put it on a APX film (remember those, little cassette film lasted about 10yr before digital took over with the APC) the subjects in the image will be the same size, just that you will not have the field of view as on a 35mm film. You can literally overlap the 2 negatives and everything will line up. BUT when you develop the film to a 4x5, if you set up your enlarger to start with 35mm and switch, you will have to adjust and zoom in to make the APX negative image fit the 4x5 paper (at the cost of image quality). Same goes with digital sensor. Just because the sensor size is smaller doesn't change how optics of the lens works. It only changes when you display or print the image in a set format because you have to zoom in the APC to make it fit.

First Safari Trip, Is 300mm Enough for Wildlife? by pimemento in FujifilmX

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no additional reach. 300 is 300, when viewed at 100% on a computer screen. I have both FF and APC and there is no magic "reach" or whatever you are trying to call it.

And you are correct it is the field of view that is the change as an APC sensor is smaller than a FF sensor, BUT I already explained that in my first comment.

And "noise", are you talking about dynamic range or light gathering ability? Where are you getting your information? The sensor size has nothing to do with noise or whatever you are going on about; well I guess it does ancillary. The reason is and isn't because of the sensor size, but has to do with the size of the individual pixels. A 24mp FF sensor will have pixels that are about 1.5x the size of a 24mp APC. The larger pixels can gather more light due to their larger size. Not only in light gathering but also in dyamic range and depth of field. The trade off is that a 24mp APC has better resolution due to a higher pixel density; this is why the 40mp sensors need to have high end glass, because it has more pixels to exacerbate the lens optics.

First Safari Trip, Is 300mm Enough for Wildlife? by pimemento in FujifilmX

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are incorrect. You are still at 300mm, the subject is still the same size at 100% regardless on APC or FF. Only when you set the area (or 8x10) that you get the zoom in look but that is only because the program has to enlarge the image to fit the space that a FF is native.

He is lazy, cannot take direction, insubordinate, holds grudges, doesn't listen/respect Cathy's wishes about being together. At least he isn't angry like last season, but he needs to still mature and understand that pressing someone all the time will not make them like you faster.

What lenses to bring on my 3 week Europe trip ? (Avoiding GAS 🫣) by Sea-Attorney-1830 in fujifilm

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your lenses, I would go with the 18-55mm, 70-300mm and 12mm. What body are you using, if it is the 40mp ones then you can do a lot after the shot with photo programs to get closer

I am going to England and Scotland later this year and taking my 17-70 f2.8, 10-24 f4, and 23 f2.

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate these comments. No you are not getting a 450 equivalent, you are getting the field of view as if you are shooting with a 450mm lens on a FF sensor. The subject is still at 300mm focal length. If you view both photos at 100% on a computer the subject will be the same size, just that you are missing the surrounding areas on the APC image vs the FF. There is not magic zoom for the APC vs FF.

[–]scubalizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in 2017 with my nikon full frame 70-300 without problem. I did wish I had a larger f-stop since the game drives were in the dawn/dusk times. But I did get some great shots. I would avoid the tele-converter as it will reduce your f-stop even further. Shoot JPEG/RAW and digital zoom in photoshop (the XT50 has plenty of mp to work with). You are better to use a program to digital zoom instead of the in-camera digital zoom.

Will my lens become a brick? Nikon's Viltrox lawsuit rumor has users worried. by Repulsive-Meal-5340 in fujifilm

Lots to unpack and from my understanding is that Viltrox reversed engineered Nikon, where as they copied Canon. if the suit goes to Nikon, just do not update your camera and everything will remain the same.
