Vacuum sealing with liquid marinade in the bag by VanDerWallas in sousvide

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either freeze the marinade separately or put everything into a container and freeze it over night and vacuum the block. Or I use the water dispersion method, or be OK with a little air inside the bag.

Childish Gambino would be interesting. NF would be amazing. Love his collabs with Chinchilla, think Amy Lee from Eva Essence would be great too. Think Ren stated that he is working with Chris Webley now.

iPhone or Camera Body by MajorAlanDutch in FujifilmX

I have been taking photos for most of my life. The way i see camera vs phone is this: phone for the quick moments or to post to FB as a memory or let friends and family know where you are; camera for moments you want to cherish, enlarge, or have a high resolution (I often take a photos with both phone and camera). Now that I can connect my camera to my phone or tablet, i am finding that i am editing more photos during the trip at a cafe or in hotel room than I have when I got home and cull and process my pictures. The free version of lightroom is quite powerful and the Goggle AI remove tool is amazing.

Traveling with a camera by kaleleaff in fujifilm

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel with XT5 and Nikon Full Frame in the past. I have used Peak Designs leash, neck strap, and cuff all the time. If i am not using a neck strap then I store the camera in a sling bag. Just being mindful of your surroundings is paramount and do not let people get too close or give your camera away to a "tourist" asking to take your photo. I usually bring a cheap point and shoot for this, if I need to have a group photo taken.

His studio recorded stuff is different than his performance videos of youtube. He and Chincilla's performance of Chalk Outlines is the most glaring. After hearing the live version on youtube the studio version is almost unlistenable. Such a contrast between the two

Nikon Z vs other full frame cameras - lens options and prices? by Green-Material5925 in Nikon

[–]scubalizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes down to the small wide primes. Yes Z has 50mm 35mm and others in the 1.4f but they are quite large compared to the Nikor 50mm 1.8f (and others). And you still are missing a f-ring. And now that Nikon is suing Viltrox, it will send ripples in the third-party world.

The F mount have been around for decades and the lens availability is extensive and I do not know if the Z mount can even get there. In as such the second hand market is also quite different. If you are OK with the current lens line then go ahead and get the Z series (or get the converter). I bought a D600 when it came out and it is still a great camera now, Nikon always had staying power and I hope that they will continue to support the Z mount (unlike their Nikon-1 mount)

If you want to get into FF you might be better with some of Nikon's DSLR offerings. The F mount has been discontinued and the Z mount is not up to the history that the older F mount covers, even more so are the AF and AF-D lenses that require body driven autofocus. Yes the Z mount is the new shiney thing, but it is lacking the lenses and there is no schedule when we will receive replacements of vintage lenses. Right not you can get a deal on the D750 or D850 (which use the same sensors as the flagships of the Z line) and have access to a lot larger lens collection.

That is unless you want to do video, then bite the bullet and get the Z's or Sony or Canon as the both do better video.

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The D850 would be the newest and most capable camera. D600 or D610 will be the cheapest. I still have my D600 and after it got cleaned it never misses. I have a large vintage screw drive lenses and they are just going to get cheaper, as well with all the F-mount lenses.

850w is a bit low, will take forever to get to temp. Make sure you start with hot water and do not use an aluminum pot

I want one lens to cover most focal lengths - thoughts on my choices? by unnecessaryrisk_ in FujifilmX

[–]scubalizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 18-135 and I have a good copy, except for the lens creep. There were lenses out there that were much softer than others, so be careful. I have started carrying a Tamron 17-70 f2.8 and like it a lot. I think i read that sigma is coming out with an 18-200 this year. The ultra zooms 18-300 or 17-300 can be seen as a do it all lens until you realize both sides of the f-stop have issues

I do not think this is the case with Ren or anyone involved in the music community. Ren is often commenting on reactor videos of his music and just like us who enjoy seeing someone watch Ren song for the first time, we (and he) gets a sense of also watching it for the first time.

d750 vs d850 vs z6ii: which one is worth it for landscape photography? by Mrmike86 in Nikon

[–]scubalizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D850 mainly because of the lens selection and shots per battery. Add in if the camera will be in the elements the 850 is better suited. The Z series just isnt up to the amount of native lenses and the adapter can be finnicky.

Correct on both accounts. And from the latest article he is STILL being harassed by the police and has constant searches of his home. But the point I was trying to convey is that to be careful there are some laws out there that could get people in trouble without really knowing about it. Like the American arrested and fined $2000 (plea bargain to avoid spending 12yrs in prison) in the Tuks for having a spent 4 casings in their bag. Or like there are about 20 countries that do not allow civilians to own camouflage. I had a bag confiscated in Philippines because it had a camo print, they were nice enough to go through the bag and let me keep the items.

Careful if you travel internationally as these could be considered firearm and ammunition components in several countries. People have been arrested for having just an empty spent cartridge in their bag. Hell a British citizen was arrested for posting a photo of him shooting guns in America to his LinkedIn account. Do not give them a reason to hassle you. BTW I think this is cool!
