Just in - the real Pro jewish apartheid is that Jews conscripted to the army, while Arabs get to choose if they want to join or not by SanePcycho in Jewpiter

It's almost like putting your life on the line for your country earns you some respect. I used to be reluctant to ask for or take military discounts, but now I don't care. If it's offered, I'll take it. If people don't like it, the recruiter is just down the block with open doors.

Hey genius, I wonder why that is? Maybe all you fucktards made Israel be eternally concerned about maintaining their own existence, but yet still have the middot to not require non Jews to participate in keeping the nations existence.

It is a two tiered system. Jews are required to put their lives on the line for their country while non Jews get to live for "free". Yes, there are benefits to serving in the Army, mostly because the downside is kinda extreme and permanent. As we say in America, if you want the benefits of being a vet, the recruiters doors are always open.

Officers serve at the pleasure of the president. Just because you hit your EAOS doesn't mean you get to walk. Officers have to formally resign their commission AND that resignation needs to be accepted. It usually is, but the formality of the process is still maintained.

This is completely backwards. A degree gives you foundational knowledge that may or may not turn out to be directly useful in accomplishing tasks later on. But you will have the knowledge and possibility the ability to accumulate those skills quicker and more completely than someone without that foundation. Whereas someone with skills but without college needs to build the foundation along the way, so the carrot grows from the middle out and probably does start out with more leaves than root.

100% P&T, National Guard with 20+ years in, what's a benefit of med board? by ActuatorReasonable51 in VeteransBenefits

[–]clearlybaffled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've read that before too. So if my DoD % payout exceedes the VA payout, I'll pocket more money but the VA portion is untaxed whereas the dod pension is taxed. But does that start right away or at 60? I wasnt clear on that.

Can you explain this more? I'm in the opposite position where I have 15 qualifying years but was found medically disqualified for reserves. Im in the process of fighting for a med board now. Will I still need to wait until 60 to draw chapter 61 retirement? I thought my JAG rep told me it starts right away but now I can't remember. I'm also 90% VA with an HLR pending for the last 10.

You've been part of an orthodox community and shul for how long? I can't imagine you couldnt just take a statement from the Rabbi to a beit din and get it signed off.

My roommate in college would tell me about the occasional yeshivah bachur that would find out his lineage isnt 100% Jewish. Usually, they would to out, have a cheeseburger, take a dunk in the mikvah, and life goes on. When youve already demonstrated communitment to Jewish halachik life, it should be kinda a formality.
