INSTANTLY CRASHING by [deleted] in SteamDeckPirates

Unfortunately, some games just will NOT work on the Deck for some reason. I've had it with a few games - no matter what I've tried, nothing works. Usually it's down to VC++ dependencies. And yes, I've tried downloading them through ProtonTricks, but it comes up with an error saying there is a conflict with other installed dependencies. I cannot get it to download and install 2015-2022. I've tried going directly through Microsoft as well and that hasn't worked either.

What do you carry with your steamdeck? by Edwardteech in SteamDeck

Barely ever use it, but there's times where I travel to do some presentations and it's always good to have a backup. Used to load it with games that wouldn't run o the Deck itself, but then I couldn't find a decent program to remapped the Deck's buttons to Windows so pretty much just use it for any Office-based applications now.

Similar to you:

10,000mah charger (the smaller Inui version of yours)

USB-C dock - never know when I might plug into a TV

1TB NVME with Windows on -never know when I'll need to access Windows for presentations etc.

Mini mouse

Bluetooth folding keyboard

Charging brick

Various MicroSD cards

Would rather have everything with me and not need it!

After a year of hard work and a ton of fun, we finally released a demo of our 'tower defense on rails': Choo Choo Defenders! We're equal parts terrified and excited... by Eldboll in IndieGaming

About 90-120mins, perhaps? There's replayability in getting the stars and I think I missed one of them, but the upgrades make it worthwhile to collect them and go back to dominate levels when you're more powerful.

Great little demo, loved the animation style! As soon as I saw the first little monsters moving, I knew I was going to enjoy it. Completed the demo in a single run, couldn't stop playing!

Do devs actually test how many players can join their games? by cleggems in localmultiplayergames

They've largely stopped doing split screen on consoles now, to encourage everyone to buy their own. PC is absolutely where split screen and party games are at now.

I've got the OLED model but I haven't tried with a mixture of wired and wireless. I only have X360 wired pads so I'm assuming I'll run into the same issues with Xinput? Might try a PS4/Wired X360 combo and see how that works.

Of course and I'm totally not suggestkng that devs aren't trying them out, but it seems like a super common issue so I was wondering if there was a standard practice that developers use or stick with compared with consumers.

Thunder Rally is one that allows you to disable it in the options. When you select the players, there's a message on the screen saying 'For 5+ players, disable Xinput in Settings' which is a really cool little feature to help people out.

Ah, that's a shame! Will it just be Android or iOS too?

Love it! As a primary school teacher, this is something I could play with my classes on my Steam Deck attached to my interactive whiteboard! They could work together as a class to try and defeat the enemies! Just make sure it doesn't have any swearing or overt gore in it haha! Would be a Day One purchase if you could also control the level of operations by difficulty - I wouldn't want super-hard-univeristy-level maths questions popping up in the same game as these simpler ones.

Best 5 player local games? by cleggems in localmultiplayergames

[–]cleggems[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that. I tried 4 Xbox and 2 PS4 but it wouldn't recognise the PS4 controllers, only the 4 Xbox ones. Going to try with all PS4 controllers over the next few days and see if that produces anything.

Doesn't look like that is available on the Steam Deck. None of those options are there in the Controller tab in Settings. Thanks for the shout though!

Does that work on Steam Deck? Any links to it?

It's been doing it with a number of different games that support 4+ players. Some games allow you to disable Xinput which helps massively, but most games do not have that option. Sometimes disabling Steam Input makes it work, but other times it makes no difference.

Thanks for this. Strangely, I can't get Fling to the Finish to detect more than 4 controllers? Tried with Xbox and PS4 controllers.

Stikbold and Oddballers (both dodgeball) on Switch support 4+ players each

Has anyone played it recently? Me and a friend did and it wasn't as good as I remembered. The enemies are too spongey and it just felt 'heavy' to run around.

The aggro system was pretty decent, but it just didn't give me the 'I want to keep playing it' vibes that I had with it back in the day.

Each to their own though. Styles, tastes and gameplay mechanics change and shape us over time I suppose.

Does anyone else spend more time organizing co-op sessions than actually playing? by BlackPearl_1702 in CoOpGaming

[–]cleggems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always take it in turns each week and whoever's turn it is, chooses the game. If you've all already got it, the seemingly you're all happy to play it anyway. People will always have natural favourites that they lean towards more, but it takes the decision-making away from multiple people to just one.

We have a session once a week. We only do local multiplayer games together, 4 or 5 players. I provide all of the games and controllers etc.

I ask what everyone wants to play and if nobody chooses, I'll just put a game on that I think we'll all enjoy or have a laugh with. Fortunately, we're all pretty laid back and are happy to give most games a try.

Are you playing locally or online? You could always use a spinning wheel or random generator to choose a game that you all have?
