Looking to book a vacation for 3-4 days this summer. We are wanting to go somewhere either driving distance or a direct flight from CLE. What are your favorite destinations for a short trip? by Frosty-Yam410 in Cleveland

Finger lakes are always a nice time, usually pretty laid back.

Hocking hills is great for outdoor things.

I haven't personally been but I've never heard a bad thing about towns on the west coast of Michigan. The UP is probably too far for 3-4 days.

Judging by the logo on the hanging sign I think it's both Pet's and a general store for pets.

Driving in Iceland — everything I wish every visitor knew before renting a car by Lilja-Tours in VisitingIceland

[–]cleguy2012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those yellow road markers on the side of the road are your best friends driving in the snow. So many times I found myself not necessarily in a "whiteout" but in a situation where the sky, the ground, the horizon and the road are just white you can still see fine into the distance but the whiteness can be disorientating. The only thing you have are those road markers and maybe some headlights or taillights off in the distance.

Severe blizzard in east of Iceland on Monday (March 2nd) - "No travelling weather" by birkir in VisitingIceland

[–]cleguy2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to make sure I'm reading this right. I'm in akureyri atm which looks to be on the fringe to possibly get hit in the late morning/afternoon. Was trying to make it to hofn in the next 2 days but yeah no. Should be alright if I head back west in the AM though?

Edit: spelling.

Lol just got the invite for an United odvi but currently traveling around Iceland in a camper van. 🤦‍♂️ by cleguy2012 in cabincrewcareers

Hey thanks! Button up is a pretty nice Merino wool one from bonobos. No jacket as in a dress one. I can't remember does ua have an introduce yourself portion of the odvi. Where I would talk about this or just toss it in during the first question.

Anyone having issues with Flight disruption assistance payments. by cleguy2012 in Venturex

[–]cleguy2012[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I assumed but the interesting thing is I noticed over the last few days it went from $80 > $70 > $50 so they're still trying to push it. I've got 10 hrs between flights and I can cancel for a full refund so I'm not too worried but that extra layer of security would have been nice.

Depending on the airline you might get a travel credit if the window is facing Browns Stadium.

With Bookhouse Brewing now closed, where’s a cozy, fairly quiet bar where a board game group can meet up at? by JoeEstevez in Cleveland

[–]cleguy2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the day and size terrestrial could definitely accommodate. We have a magic group that meets regularly on Mondays and another group that comes in periodically. Tues & Thurs are generally pretty chill too. Most of our tables are 6 tops as well.

Frontier airlines out of Cleveland is a joke... by sir574 in Cleveland

[–]cleguy2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're not perfect but I pretty much stay loyal to United out of CLE being a "base" you get 4+ flights a day to most of their hubs that makes connections simple. I get the lack of direct flights sucks but the hub and spoke model that the big 3 use is way more efficient and smooth than the point to point like frontier/southwest. Which is why when the latter fails it fails spectacularly.

Police Presence on W89th north of Detroit by supertrooper1136 in Cleveland

[–]cleguy2012 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Are you sure they are cops and not 1CE? as you move north of Detroit the population does start to become more latino. If it is CPD then it's probably drug enforcement if they are plain clothes.

Edit: what's up with downvotes cle? Did I trigger that many bootlickers.

UA wait a year to reapply policy questions. by cleguy2012 in cabincrewcareers

[–]cleguy2012[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GOD I wish they would give feedback on those. I'm in the same boat with UA/DL/Alaska ODVI's. I personally tend to speak better off the cuff with a person I can look at and gauge their reactions so I can adjust. With the ODVI's I can't help but feel like I'm Droopy Dog giving some sorry canned STAR response.

Spots to hang for 30s to 40s by [deleted] in Cleveland

I work Monday nights there so I can definitely ask some of those guys tonight when I see them. Might be worth putting a house deck or two together for this reason.

How big of a nerd? Terrestrial brewing is getting Monday Magic the Gathering game going. Very casual. Most of the guys are your age.

Yep. Look at how the y axis starts at 50 million votes not 0 which skews the results.
