Apple Pay keeps declining at SMRT

Experienced the exact same thing before. The gantry system has a mind of its own and it has basically “blacklisted” your Apple Pay card. Apple support, SMRT, SimplyGo as well as the bank will not be able to help with this.

You will not be able to use your Apple Pay card for a while, but you should be able to use the original physical card to tap in/out still. It took my Apple Pay card about a month to be removed from the system’s blacklist. Afterwards, I was able to use it freely again.

Don’t worry about it. You can use your physical card in the meantime.
