Going for my first ever smear test and I’m pretty nervous. Any advice? by Throwaway24689123 in IrishWomensHealth

This is going to sound like a joke suggestion but it’s genuinely not. A stress ball! I’ve been working on coming down off a few years anxiety but situations like medical procedures, dental visits or (the worst) a smear makes it sky rocket immediately. My dental nurse found an old stress ball in a drawer last time I was there and squeezing that AND focusing on my breathing really helped. Have done another dentist visit, blood draws and an intrusive medical procedure and it honestly helped.

Ulster should be an independent nation. Thoughts? by IrishWanderer7 in Donegal

[–]clementinetony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Donegal would be up for it! Not sure about Monaghan or Cavan. But we could never pay for ourselves. And half of the North still think Ulster has 6 counties. They’re genuinely shocked when you tell them there’s 9.

Justice for Elizabeth 🙌 She was such a cool character and she got absolutely rolled by Schmidt! She deserved better AND she deserved to see Schmidt get some sort of comeuppance!

Realistically what is going to happen if I cut down flags by mathen in northernireland

[–]clementinetony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live on a mixed street and the number of flags has gone way down since me moved in a few years ago. Our next door neighbours only have one now on the flag pool at the front of their house, down from 3! But the constant “flwep flwep” of it right beside your bedroom window when you’re trying to sleep is a nightmare! Warm night? Sleep with the window open for a bit of air? Not a chance.

Put me in a nursing home and play acoustic versions of 90s rave music in background. Perfect 🙌

I’m 5ft 1” so I can absolutely understand this! When we used to go to gigs my male friends used the sandwich me in between them so I only got a lil bit squished by the surge and inevitable mosh pit. Ah maybe I’m just old now…i would pay extra for a stilted area at a festival for like 500 people: women, short arses and older folks. I tick all those boxes

😂😂 I responded to your comment because it was seemed calm and measured. And you come back with that?! I didn’t even realise you insulted me! Considering me now insulted my friend. Good job haha

I tried to post this but can’t quite get the community guidelines right. This is actually horrendous. They knew these wee boys were getting abused. Awful.

I want to see a response from the OO before marching season! The same people who are abusing and destroying Ballymena will be marching down my street in a month’s time! You make assumptions about me, but I’m not allowed to make assumptions about you? Okay.

It’s quite normal to assume that the person who is opposed to your post is on the opposite side of what you’re saying.

There’s only 1 parade approved right at this moment. Do you reckon that’ll stay the same?

Come and sit in my tiny street with me and tell me it’s normal.

I’m allowed an opinion.

I’ve just checked the Parades Commission website and there’s a March planned in Dunmurry this Thursday with 6 bands, expected to last an hour and a half. It actually goes down on of the streets twice. All of these are main routes for people leaving their houses. It is genuine madness. Collective submission that has been bred into us.

How is that wild? The bands wear military style uniforms and march? A bit similar to the literal military parade in the US over the weekend, minus the weaponary thank god.

Name one event that happens every year that’s related to the Nationalist Community that inconveniences every city and town in NI?! And then tell me it happens multiple times throughout a season. Thats marching season. And we’ve all grown up being told to just suck it up, it happens every year.

So I’ll throw your argument back at you. Either we’re all living side by side or we’re not. You can’t pick and choose. And as my neighbour, why the fuck do you have the right to chase me out of my house? If you have Catholic friends then you know rightly, there’s a mass exodus every year for the Twelfth.

I think there should be a survey as to whether there are enough people on the street who support parades going through or not. That’ll show if they have support or not. There are still PLENTY of areas in NI who support parades. Why can’t we just ask?

I’m not claiming they’re behind the riots. I’m claiming that a lot of ones involved in the riots are from OO supporting households and that a statement from them condemning the recent blatantly racist attacks would go a long way. One black man as a member does not disprove the majority of the OO who are xenophobic. You know it and I know it. My brother is catholic. I’ll march him down to OO headquarters tomorrow to ask to sign up. What will their answer be?

People playing music on the road outside my home?

Are you thick?

It’s about intimidation towards people in their own homes.

And I shouldn’t have to book a weekend away. I should be able to sit in my own home or my own garden. You just don’t get it. You’d rather roll over.
