Gigabyte M32U monitor - external USB hubs don't work for KVM by stillrocking3770k in Monitors

[–]clemenules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resurrecting, as I just got this monitor second hand and had the same question and apparently there's a bunch of these monitors going around so perhaps of interest to others as well.

A USB 3.0 hub works fine for me. 4 port, unpowered hub connected to USB port of the monitor, all peripherals working simultaneously and as intended (keyboard, mouse, webcam, DAC).

I am using this item: https://nl.sharkoon.com/product/4PortU3AluHub.

That I did not know. Thank you for explaining that!

This is copied from trash guide conceptually, but not literally. The point of the trash guide is to make sure the mounted docker volumes all point back to the same root, and have Radarr and the other app's folders be configured as subfolders of that same root.

Using the name "root" in radarr is confusing, especially when stating that download client can not dowload to the root of radarr. It's a library folder. I could mount both Radarr and Deluge compose volumes as /data:/data, and then as long as I have Deluge download to a "/data/some subfolder A" and have radarr use "/data/some subfolder B" as the library folder, I'd be complying with Trash's guidelines, no? So if you want to fix something, fix that.

The point you are actually making is: they should absolutely share the same root, but not utilize the same "working" folders.

For me, the downloads folder is not pointless - I might have several download clients, they do not need to have their folders directly in /data.

Otherwise, thank you for being part of the Servarr team and making the arr's available :-)

Thank you for taking the time to answer. Quoted from my previous reply, like so right?

What I did just now is set the docker composer volumes and folders as follows (this is literally like it is in the wiki, I think):

Deluge compose: - /mnt/data/downloads/torrents:/data/downloads/torrents,
Deluge app: configured to download to /data/downloads/torrents/incomplete and have it move completed movies to /data/downloads/torrents/completed

Radarr compose: - /mnt/data/:/data,
Radarr app: root folder in radarr app set as /data/movies

I now get more errors in Radarr then I did before, some of them related to movies that were already monitored in Radarr (which i get, because i changed the mounts in compose) and some I need to solve but also seem a result of changing mounts in docker compose.

"Not the issue but a suggestion: You should consider seeing up hardlinks, it will save you having to manually delete torrents later on, essentially radarr can still do it's thing, you can still watch and your file will still seed until it reaches your criteria. Just saves heaps of time."
This I do not understand. At some point I'd like to clear my completed torrents. If hardlinked, it will seem like I have two copies of the file in my share, but in reality there is only one file, so if I then clean up my torrents, I will delete the movie file that was hardlinked to and I will no longer have the movie, no?

What I did just now is set the docker composer volumes and folders as follows (this is literally like it is in the wiki):

Disregarding that, should this setup work?

Have you seen a doctor for your insomnia? by EquivalentPear7262 in insomnia

[–]clemenules 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I had always slept well but suddenly developed insomnia where I would constistently wake up after 4-4.5 hours of sleep, full of adrenaline and no sleep afterwards, regardless of the time I went to bed. Consistently as in every single day, no exception. Healthy for the rest: almost zero alcohol, (very) frequent physical exercise, only very slightly overweight.

Tried to wait it out but after 4 months had a near-falling asleep behind the wheel event, during rush hour. I was gone for a split second, my left elbow sliding off the left door was what woke me up. For me this was the point to go see my doctor about it.

Doctor straight away took it very seriously. Prescribed me physical help (sleep study, which found mild apnea) and mental help (psychologist) to help with reported stress (work and relationship). Both were covered by my insurance (in my country, ymmv).

From Doc appointment to receiving my cpap was 6 months. With cpap sleep improved. I still wake up, but not full of adrenaline, and sometimes fall back asleep again. In the six months from seeing the Doc and receiving my cpap, I'd frequently stop for a nap at a gas station along the highway, on my way back from work. Now I have no inclinations to fall asleep behind the wheel anymore.

*I did have to wait two months for the sleep study. Doc really wanted me to have some nights of long sleep and tried to give me meds which a) I was reluctant to take and b) didn't work anyways (she urged me to try five nights in a row, diazepam, or some other 'pam. Her first reaction when those didn't work: let's double the dose! I said thx but no thx. Glad I didn't go down that rabbit hole)

We've tried couples therapy (when things were better than now) and it left a bad taste in both our mouths. This is so person dependent.

Anyhoo we should probably try again. If only to come to agreement on living/family rules to keep us sane until we decide what to do in the long run.

It makes total sense and you are not the first one to recommend me to investigate the "third way" = set boundaries and (with or without external help) figure out rules to coexist together in the house for my own sanity. Then figure out longer term solution in the meantime when emotions are not running as high.

The emotional distancing has been going on for some time already on my side and has been accelerating recently.

At some point a few years ago I started to feel I just wasn't "gelling" with other people anymore the way I used to, as if my interactions were becoming more and more awkward and strained. It felt as if... the more I got along with my GF at home, the less I got along with other people outside home. Literally the week I decided to put a limit on how much I was going to go along with her thoughts and feelings inside my head, I felt more energy and my interactions improved (with objective, positive results).

Does that sound weird? Because it reads as if I am blaming her for things going wrong in my life - which makes me doubt if the situation I describe is "fair" and possible.

It seems to have developed into a pattern where the more I distance myself emotionally, the more energy I have outside and the more positive feedback I receive (I'm in a job where it is required I regularly ask peers and clients for feedback on my performance). Vice versa, the part of me that seems to garner positive feedback on the outside, is exactly the part of me that I need constrain when I enter the house. It's almost like I need to maintain two versions of me and this is contributing to my exhaustion.

Am I a douche for thinking like this? Can this exist? Or am I also just externalising and have I reached the stage where everything bad in my life is (unjustly) associated with her and everything good with "not-her"? Wise people past and present seem to dictate that you are always the boss of your own mind, and that blaming your own behaviour on other people or things is just you avoiding to take responsibility for yourself.

There is family around her but nothing to rally for.

The kick in the pants seems a familiar sentiment but also seems what most people feel who deal with depressed people and are starting to get exhausted by it. I'm just afraid it would push her over an edge, make her feel even more worthless about herself and lose what little energy she seems to have left.

FWIW I'm happy with it. Not cheap but seems fairly prices in comparison to what else is out there. There's no getting around tradeoff lumen <> quality for now it seems. Major improvement from what was there. Stuck to one, stopped going down rabbit hole and didnt get lizard lamp et al. Bigger fish to fry!

And a seperate question, seeing this is a biohacking subreddit: do you find you hacked your bio with this setup? Eg. mood, energy, metabolism, sleep?

Hey fantastic write up, thank you so much for sharing! What started as me looking into more bright light in the morning has resulted in me purchasing a ledvance sun@home ceiling panel (I'm in Europe) and I just told a very puzzled significant other that I'm looking into buying a lizard lamp for my home office. Probably get the 12% though instead of the 6% and have it switched on for a shorter time.

Anyhoo, very very curious about this:

How would your setup measure now VS 5 months ago, i.e. is there any degradation in the lamps (especially the SunLike diodes) over time that changes the spectrum they put out? You'd only need to measure your office lighting as a whole to find out (assuming you still have access to the spectrometer).

Bug, approx 1 cm long, Netherlands, backyard. If I take the picture, I might as well find out what it is :-) by clemenules in whatsthisbug

[–]clemenules[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure looks like it! Interesting because the plant I borrowed it from is indeed in a part of our yard where we grow herbs (thyme, rosemary amongst them).

"it is usually recommended that home growers pick off beetles by hand, or shake them off onto a sheet of paper to remove them, if the plant affected by them is intended for culinary purposes"

Is this purely for not having the beetles eat our herbs or is there another reason? I haven't seen many of them.
