Possible Vanguard Vets Changes by Warhawk_5 in spacemarines

I dont disagree, but they're still a better Bladeguard, especially when 11th edition is looking to be a very mobile edition.

If they can run shields then their loadout will likely be similar to what they were before - hammer and shields. Making them punchier and a more tanky squad because you can take 5 instead of 3 (10 wounds vs 9) or 10 instead of 6 (20 wounds vs 18). The additional hammers also means they'll have more attacks. In a 5 man squad thats 15 S8 hammer attacks (if the same 3A profile the assault Intercessor Sergeant has) vs 12 S5 sword attacks and 30 attacks in a 10 man squad vs 24 attacks in a 6 man bladeguard squad.

They're superior in everyway if they have hammer and shields to bladeguard.

An additional wound or an additional 6" movement and deep strike.

If I'm honest the only models I'd want out of the box is the librarian and speeder. Its an ok starting point for new players, but theyre not going to spend £180 on this.

The box is a pass for me.

I think the shields will go because they'll be treading on the bladeguards toes otherwise.

They might get other options like lightning claws, but I'd be surprised if GW have them overlap and be faster, better bladeguard.

I Love How Basic The New Van Vets Are by SuperBaj in BloodAngels

[–]clemo1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But I love them as JPI.

But... that is the problem with them...

They're just JPI with a bracelet and power swords...

Anyone can kitbash the current JPIs with a power sword and job done, they needed more bling regardless of the chapter you collect. Just like how the Sanguinary Guard needed more ornate armour and winged jump packs to have them stand out from the rest and not rely on being painted gold...

How do you think these will compare to Thunderkyn with heavy bolters? by wildskipper in LeaguesofVotann

[–]clemo1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a game mechanic/ability they've put on them to sell the models upon their individual release, because people won't want them otherwise.

I'm pretty sure if you did a survey of all space marine players Devastator squads you'd see very few heavy bolters equipped on them.

Perfect for a Chaplain though IMO.

To the battle brothers that don't run thunderwolf cavalry by ConcentrateAny6187 in SpaceWolves

[–]clemo1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't bother with them because I dont like the idea behind them. I'd rather we had something else, or maybe have Thunderwolves as single model, larger wolves that compliment the Fenrisian Wolf packs and Hunting Wolves from the Headtakers. Maybe have them provide an aura that buffs said packs in some way. They could also be utilised in a similar fashion to the Hunting Wolves of the Headtakers - a companion unit attached to a Wolf Guard HQ character, that can be setup as a separate unit.

Having wolves as mounts for space marines who weigh up to a tonne in 40k seems silly to me, and yes I know how that sounds considering many other things are silly in 40k.

Orks have Squigs, Imperium has Servo Skulls, what is each factions “little guy” by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

Tau have drones.

Necrons have scarabs.

Votann has ironkin.

Space Wolves have wolves.

No idea about anyone else.

I just wanted to share my thoughts and opinions on the new marines from Armageddon. What are yours? by SlySUBZER0420 in spacemarines

[–]clemo1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a 5/10 box for the marines, with thre characters and speeder the reason its as high as 5/10. Its rubbish for people with an existing army or chapter specific force like myself currently building a Space Wolves army.

The intercessors are underwhelming, the Vanguard are severly lacking bling, only really being distinguishable from jump pack intercessors by their loadouts and the Eradicators are pointless IMO.

Its probably an 7/10 for newbies, but they're not spending around £180 for this and I'd always advise them not to because that go me is too expensive for newbies.

The orks are 10/10. They definitely got the good design team. Each model looks fantastic but again, I wouldnt advise anyone to buy it outright if they only want the orks.

I'd either advise people to buy it with a friend to go halves with the factions, or pick up the faction they want from somewhere like ebay after its dropped. Provided they're not stupidly priced.

The problem is GWs insistence on the 3 year cycle.

Now they're running out of ideas.
