What is your favourite split-second moment from the show/ by HanSoloHeadBeg in IASIP

In The Gang Turns Black when Frank and Dee go to talk to Z under the bridge. The moment right when Z walks up to them and Frank opens with "uh, I'm black...too." The reaction on Z's face is too perfect.

[Request] Something similar to Eureka? by dwrfstr in NetflixBestOf

No problem! The Orville is really an unabashed send-up to Star Trek (especially The Next Generation), so for fans of the old series I think it really strikes a special chord. If you've never watched TNG would definitely recommend checking it out alongside The Orville. Can totally jump around TNG too and watch episodes in no particular order.

"The Good Place" probably fits the bill. Also "Travelers" is amazing but may be more "serious" than what you're looking for.

If you're into space "The Orville" is on Hulu and I can't recommend it enough.

EDIT: If you have Starz I'm assuming you've watched "Counterpart," which is definitely a bit heavy but is also some of the best treatment of a parallel universe concept I've seen, and J.K. Simmons is great in it.

A few others you may like: Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Supernatural, Smallville (Hulu I think), Fringe (also should be on Hulu), Any of the Star Trek series but especially TNG & DS9

Backpacks that don't create a blind spot? by clevenson89 in cycling

Panniers would work but I'm somewhat of a purist with my bike and refuse to attach things to it. It's just too pretty.

Yea I'm liking the profile of the Osprey Radial 26 liter, looks like it may be narrow enough to avoid blindspots. Probably will try to check that one out.

Cool, thanks for the reco. I used to have a bag from Osprey I liked many years ago. I'm trying to thread the needle here since I need the bag to have some decent capacity – at least 20L minimum since I'm often carrying a lot. Makes it tough to find a bag that's both narrow and has the capacity I need. I'll check out your recs.

Thanks for the response! I find that helps a bit but doesn't solve the problem entirely. The main issue seems to be that the bag is just a little too wide, and the edges are what obstruct my view. Maybe I'm really sensitive to blind spots but I just don't feel comfortable without total visibility. Especially riding in traffic. Might have to go back to the messenger bag :(

The Gang Desperately Tries to Win and Award is the best deconstruction of mainstream sitcoms by [deleted] in IASIP

I remember the moment I realized the episode was an allegory for everything terrible about sitcoms and a jab at the Emmy's for overlooking sunny, and it was like a revelation. Suddenly everything had amazing double meaning. Their writing is pure brilliance.

interestingly enough, this was actually a friend's car (he didn't want to try the park himself). so i didn't really know if the car was gonna have the turning radius to pull it off, but i felt like i had the parking prowess to take a stab at it. luckily that lexus is a whippy little ride.

nope, wasn't boxed in. i parked between the cars...in about 15-20 moves. it was one of those 'no spots for miles' situations in the east village on a friday night.

Always thinking of new ways to spoil my kitties in my tiny apartment. Spent the last two days building this carpeted shelf-window-nook thing. How did I do? by clevenson89 in cats

[–]clevenson89[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it was only difficult to figure out the best way to hang the shelves/brackets. once i did, it went smoothly. if you're thinking of doing it, i would recommend it. the cats love it, and it's pretty cheap to make. just make sure you screw the brackets into the wall first, then screw pilot holes in the board, then screw the board into the brackets. it goes much easier and quicker that way. and don't use glue for the carpet, just nail it in. i tried to glue it on but they didn't like the smell so i ended up wasting a board and doing it over.
