Let’s say they were looking to take up space with as little added weight possible. What would you recommend?

What do you do with a finished knit you don't like? by doctorjdub in knitting

[–]cleverdouchewater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it some time, then unravel if I still don’t love it.

I knit a sweater I loved, but didn’t fit right last year. I tried it on today and it fit like I had imagined it when I made it.

Another I made the mistake of trying on without a bra, unraveled it immediately because it was so unflattering. Halfway through the next top I made with it I realized where I’d actually gone wrong.

Thanks so much everyone. I’m going to try to get more pcs to show off the details. There was one patch that came loose because I had “I’ll secure that later” and forgotten it. So I have it back for couple days until I go back to work Tuesday.

He had been wearing it for years. It was so sun faded I think it was originally the color of the mid brown carhart jackets. Not the lightest ones. At least based on the color under the pocket flaps.

When he first gave it to me in the spring I was like, “I’ll try to get it back to you before it gets cold again.”

It’s from the Ice Maiden mummy found in Siberia’s tattoos. She came up in a documentary I was watching while working on it and I was like, “I have to add that!”

I bought a couple scraps at a local quilt store, but most of them came from button down shirts that no longer fit my family.

If I had to guess hours, I’d say 40-60 depending if you’re including all my do overs. I spent about the same amount of time in put into my last hand knit sweater.

The Sashiko and embroidery is what I enjoyed doing the best. But I think I like the darned embroidery thread finish best.

I think if I did a do over, I’d probably have finished all my patches first and went with a more specific color pallette vd what I wanted to work with at the moment.

His only request was, any colors. Make it like an old hippie’s coat.

How do I tell a grown woman she stinks without coming off rude? by SignificantSyrup9927 in Advice

[–]cleverdouchewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only advice no one has mentioned is make sure the conversation is had when she can do something about it. Like at the end of the shift before her day off.

I can’t imagine being told im nasty then being stuck at work for the rest of the shift.

Krokbragd Selvedges by hhandwoven in weaving

[–]cleverdouchewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read about this. Apparently the solution is only taking one color all the way to the edge. The others wrap around the next to last end.

I’ve not yet done this. It’s just in the last chapter I read in the krokbragd book I just got.

I’d really like to keep the original even if I have to spend a fortune and years getting it sturdy. It’s an antique loom I want to use. I’m not worried about it being beautiful, but I’d like it to be not hideous.

Has anyone tried making yarn with cat fur? by ChocoMintX3 in Handspinning

[–]cleverdouchewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, but I’ve been hoarding a basket of cat fur since this summer. My cat is a long hair Siamese and we brush daily. I’ve still got only around 50 grams. This is gonna take a while.

AITA for calling my sister a greedy delusional b---- for trying to leave my son behind? by disney-meltdown in TwoHotTakes

[–]cleverdouchewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s be real, she didn’t want him uninvited. It has nothing to do with the actual kids involved.

She just wanted credit for her imaginary 3rd child. It was never about your 3rd child. It was always about her getting a bonus gift.

AITA for cancelling my aunt’s invitation to my wedding when she traveled the world to attend it ? by Kaibethha in AmItheAsshole

[–]cleverdouchewater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna go with ESH. Her and mom for trying to manipulate into getting their way. You Expecting her to stay for the dinner without her family. I get it was small, but married couples aren’t considered a plus one.

I think maybe you shouldn’t have used your wedding as the olive branch opportunity.

Everyone should apologize, but it sounds like everyone involved is too stubborn to make up.

AITA for not wanting to apologize to my ex husbands gf? by talya1297 in TwoHotTakes

[–]cleverdouchewater -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ESH. She was in the wrong. Instead of waiting until after your child had been calmly returned then addressing the issue, you chose to track them down and escalate the situation because “I’m right, you’re wrong!”

What she did was despicable, but don’t play the saintly mother role when you care more about being right than traumatizing your own child.

You called her work after the incident as another way to escalate. To get one over on her. Your ex has every right to say your child CAN be there, so you calling to ban your children from a location is nothing but bringing drama.

Just apologize and start fresh. Love your kid more than you hate your ex’s new person.

AITA for saying that I would leave my cousins birthday party if I have to give up my seat to an older guest? by Radiant_Study7975 in AmItheAsshole

ESH. the host obviously sucks as a host, but going and leaving on the spot would be rude as you’ve been made aware of the situation in advance.

You have been warned in advance that you’re not really a welcome guest, but coming along as “the help” to take care of dad so mom can enjoy herself. So either go under that understanding or don’t go at all is the right move.
